Interesting ruins at Tulum. So so beach. - This tour was an interesting combination of a trip to Tulum and a visit to a nearby beach. We met our guide at the bus station and took public transportation to and from the site. The vehicle was in good shape, but if public transportation is not your thing, this trip is not for you. Our guide was polite and personable and spoke good English. The explanation of the site was very basic, however. It would be fine for your average tourist but not for someone who is truly interested in archaeology. The beach was a big disappointment. The sand was hard-packed, the beach full of grass and washed up debris and the water cloudy. A number of snorkeling and turtle-watching trips originate here so that may have been the selling point but it's definitely not the beach itself.
