• Assenova Krepost (Asen’s Fortress) - Continue your Bulgarian road trip for 23 km to arrive around 12:30 PM in the stunning Rhodope Mountains. Follow the winding road to discover the Fortress of Asen perched on a rocky ridge.

The fortress was constructed in the 6th century during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Justinian the Great and played a significant strategic role during the Middle Ages. Although it was ruined after the Ottoman conquest in the 14th century, the original church remains, offering a spectacular panoramic view from the top.

Departure is at 1:30 PM.

• Bachkovo - After a 15-minute drive, you will reach Bachkovo for lunch. A rustic riverside lunch has been reserved for you.

• Bachkovo Monastery - Arrive at Bachkovo Monastery by 3:15 PM.

After lunch, enjoy a 15-minute walk to visit Bachkovo Monastery. Nestled beautifully in the Rhodope Mountains, it is located to the right of the Chepelarska River Valley and is one of the most significant monasteries of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. This National Monument, like Nesebar, is also a UNESCO heritage site. It preserves a vast collection of invaluable paintings from the 11th to 14th centuries.

You will depart around 4:45 PM and arrive via the A1 at Borovets by approximately 7:30 PM.
