Kathmandu to Pokhara by bus or flight
Annapurna Base Camp Trek - Traveling to Pokhara by Tourist Bus can be an exhilarating journey as the winding highway around the hills offers stunning views of lush landscapes and nearby settlements. The houses close to the highway are typically modern concrete structures, while those further down the valley are traditional homes with thatched roofs, often weighted down with stones to prevent wind damage.
The trip to Pokhara takes approximately 7-8 hours without stops. However, it’s worth pausing at some viewpoints to admire the river valleys, terraced hills, and even mountain vistas. Upon arrival in Pokhara, we will check into our hotel.
Pokhara to Naya Pul by car, same day trek to Ulleri
Naya Pul - From Pokhara, we will drive to Nayapul in a private Jeep. A 30-minute walk from Nayapul brings us to the charming town of Birethanti, one of the prosperous towns in the Annapurna region. After checking our permits, we will climb a short uphill to Hille and then proceed through village alleys to Tikhedhunga.
The trail ascends steeply from Tikhedhunga, with hundreds of stone steps leading to Ulleri. This climb is more challenging than expected, but the views of wide river valleys, lush hills, and snow-capped peaks along the way make it worthwhile.
Upon completing the stairs, you will be greeted by breathtaking mountain views of Annapurna, Mardi, and other snowy peaks at Ulleri. These views are just a preview of the stunning scenery ahead.

Trek to Ghorepani
Ghorepani - The route to Ghorepani no longer involves steps like those in Ulleri. Instead, the trail features a series of ups and downs through dense rhododendron and alpine forests, eventually leading to Ghorepani. In terms of altitude, it is just 800m higher than Ulleri.
Many travelers who visit Poon Hill plan to stay overnight in Ghorepani to witness the sunrise from the top of Poon Hill. You might consider adding an extra day to your itinerary to fully appreciate the beauty of Poon Hill.
Later, we will return to Ghorepani for an overnight stay.
Trek to Tadapani
Tadapani - Before sunrise, we will head to Poon Hill to witness the stunning peaks of Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and other ranges, highlighting the beauty of the Annapurna region. It is a thrilling experience.
After an awe-inspiring sunrise view, we will return to Ghorepani for a light breakfast. The first part of the trail to Tadapani offers scenic viewpoints similar to those seen from Poon Hill. The cascading waterfalls and flowing river streams along the way enhance the trek’s overall beauty.
From Tadapani, we will take a different trail to Chuile, avoiding the path to Ghandruk. This route involves a sharp descent for a few minutes, eventually leading to Chuile, a rather cold place.
Trek to Sinuwa
Sinuwa - In Chuile, the sun takes a long time to rise, sometimes not until 10 am. Therefore, we will start our journey to Sinuwa as soon as it is light enough.
As we proceed, the views improve, with the Machhapuchhre peak frequently appearing. We will pass through forests filled with the sounds of birds. In spring, colorful butterflies flutter around the rhododendron trees, creating a mesmerizing natural scene.
After crossing Chhomrong, the trail ascends steeply to Sinuwa, a village with several lodges. From here, we can see the deep river valleys of Modi Khola and Chhomrong.
Trek to Deurali
Deurali - For the first couple of hours, the trail undulates through dense juniper and birch forests. As we approach Bamboo, we can see butterflies and birds enjoying the sunny day.
From Bamboo, we enter an avalanche-prone area. After reaching Dovan, we continue to Deurali via the Hinku cave. The trail includes treacherous snowfields, remnants of past avalanches, which can be intimidating. We will proceed without delay through the alpine terrain to Deurali.
A large overhanging rock along the trail once sheltered around 50 porters before teahouses and lodges were built. We will walk along the snowy trail to Deurali and spend the night there.
Trek to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC)
Machhapuchhre Base Camp - The path from Deurali winds along the less-traveled tracks of Annapurna for about 2.5 hours until reaching Machhapuchhre Base Camp. Despite the lodges, the base camp’s surroundings offer a captivating Himalayan atmosphere.
To acclimatize before reaching Annapurna Base Camp, we will spend the night at the lower elevation of Machhapuchhre Base Camp.
Trek to Annapurna Base Camp and back to Bamboo
Annapurna Base Camp - From Machhapuchhre Base Camp, it is a couple of hours’ ascent to Annapurna Base Camp. A narrow, avalanche-prone trail leads to the base camp, where five lodges are available.
At the base camp, you will be surrounded by a vast snowscape with mountains rising from the horizon. On a sunny day, these mountains sparkle as if the sun shines just for them. It is a majestic sight.
Trek to Jhinu Danda Natural Hot Spring
Jhinu Danda - Descending along the less-traveled tracks of Annapurna, we will reach Jhinu Danda, known for its natural hot spring. This hot spring is believed to have healing properties, and trekkers often take a dip after a strenuous trek in the Annapurnas.
The community has developed the hot spring, and a small fee is charged for a relaxing soak. It is a surreal experience.
Trek to Siwali, same day by car to Pokhara
Pokhara - In the morning, we will leave Jhinu Danda for Siwali, a 3-hour trek. The views and climate in Siwali contrast sharply with the higher altitudes, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Upon arrival in Siwali, we will take a local bus back to Pokhara.
