Setting Sail on a Dream

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I found myself standing at the dock in Pollonia, ready to embark on a journey that promised to be both exhilarating and serene. As a marine biologist, my work often takes me to the most beautiful corners of the world, but the allure of the turquoise waters of Kimolos and Poliegos was something I couldn’t resist. The promise of exploring hidden beaches and secret fjords, all while aboard a luxury power boat, was too tempting to pass up.

The highlight, however, was the unknown fjord of Kimolos, a secret spot that few have the privilege to see. The serenity of the place was palpable, and as I took a moment to soak it all in, I felt a deep connection to the natural world around me.

Next, we ventured to the uninhabited north of Kimolos, to a secluded bay known as Soufli. Protected from the wind and often devoid of crowds, it was a haven of tranquility. Here, I took the opportunity to explore the seabed with a Sea Scooter, marveling at the vibrant marine life that called this place home. The crystal-clear waters revealed a world teeming with life, a reminder of the delicate balance that exists beneath the waves.

A Feast for the Senses

As the day progressed, we made our way to Poliegos, an island renowned for its stunning Blue Bay. The turquoise-light blue waters were unlike anything I had ever seen, and as we anchored at the secluded beach of Faros, I felt as though I had stepped into a dream. The wild goats that roamed the beach added a touch of whimsy to the scene, and as I watched them from a distance, I couldn’t help but smile.

Lunch was a delightful affair, with a special catered dish made from local produce. The flavors were fresh and vibrant, a testament to the rich culinary heritage of the region. As a surprise, the crew brought out a bottle of champagne to celebrate a fellow traveler’s birthday, adding a touch of festivity to the day.

As we made our way back to Pollonia, the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the water. It was the perfect end to a perfect day, and as I reflected on the experience, I knew that this was a journey I would never forget.
