Ayutthaya, a kingdom that flourished from 1350 to 1767, is a superb locale for aficionados of cultural history. Over these centuries, it expanded into what was known as Siam (Thailand’s previous name), which nearly spanned the same area as modern Thailand, excluding the northern Thailand’s Lanna Kingdom.
Regarded as one of Thailand’s most ancient cities, Lopburi has been consistently inhabited since the beginning of the Dvaravati period, approximately a millennium and a half ago. In the 10th century, Lopburi fell under the sway of the Khmer Empire which erected numerous remarkable monuments, many of which can still be seen today. In the latter half of the 17th century, King Narai the Great declared Lopburi as the alternative capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom.
GROUPS ARE LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM OF 10 PERSONS.
- Maximum number of participants per group is 10 persons.
- Regarding our visit to Lopburi: You must always remember that, no matter what, monkeys are wild animals, not pets. Even though they may look cute, especially the young ones, we always recommend to keep your distance, not bring any food with you and keep all your belongings in your bag. You don’t need to come close as it’s just as fun to watch the monkeys from a distance.
