Additional Information

Embark on a dual-city day tour from Bangkok.

The itinerary includes a journey to the historical temples in the city of Ayutthaya, before heading to Lopburi, the home of the renowned monkey temple.

Ayutthaya, a kingdom that flourished from 1350 to 1767, is a superb locale for aficionados of cultural history. Over these centuries, it expanded into what was known as Siam (Thailand’s previous name), which nearly spanned the same area as modern Thailand, excluding the northern Thailand’s Lanna Kingdom.

Regarded as one of Thailand’s most ancient cities, Lopburi has been consistently inhabited since the beginning of the Dvaravati period, approximately a millennium and a half ago. In the 10th century, Lopburi fell under the sway of the Khmer Empire which erected numerous remarkable monuments, many of which can still be seen today. In the latter half of the 17th century, King Narai the Great declared Lopburi as the alternative capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom.

GROUPS ARE LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM OF 10 PERSONS.

  • Maximum number of participants per group is 10 persons.
  • Regarding our visit to Lopburi: You must always remember that, no matter what, monkeys are wild animals, not pets. Even though they may look cute, especially the young ones, we always recommend to keep your distance, not bring any food with you and keep all your belongings in your bag. You don’t need to come close as it’s just as fun to watch the monkeys from a distance.

Great Tour! - Great tour. Sunday is a great tour guide, he will also answer any questions you might have about the history of the area. My best part was to have close contact with the monkeys and of course the Ayutthaya temple. It is a great one. They also took the time to pick us up and drop us off at our hotel. I would recommend 100%.

Informative and interactive tour! Worth the 2-hour drive! - The tour was very informative and interactive. The tour guide gave us time to feed the monkeys at the Monkey Temple with banana chips. He was very knowledgeable and really gave a lot of information on ancient Thai history and the kind of Buddhism Thai people are practicing. He made sure to take our best pictures. He also gave us ample time to explore the temples and interact with the monkeys. The two-hour drive from Bangkok to Lopburi and Ayutthaya was worth it!

Fantastic day trip to see the monkeys and the temples - This was a fantastic day trip from Bangkok to Lapburi, Ayutthaya and a few other temples too. Our guide Sunday was very knowledgeable and had lots of stories and information about every place we visited. He told us about the history of the temples and also gave us an insight into Buddhist Thailand and the traditions. We were half considering taking a train Lopburi as this was cheaper but actually it would have been impossible with the heat and the children, and also we got taken to 5 different places in the end, all spread out and all interesting, and that would have been impossible by ourselves. It was just a great day trip, in a really comfortable air conditioned bus. I really recommend it.

Fun day with monkeys! - Such a fun day! I loved getting to learn more about Thai history in Ayutthaya in the morning and the temples there were beautiful. Piya was a great guide and led us safely around the monkey area in the afternoon. The monkeys were very engaged and kept jumping on us and playing. I would bring a spare change of clothes, hand sanitizer, and maybe body wipes for after the monkeys.

Wonderful tour - Great tour! We had Piya as our guide and he was very knowledgeable about all of the temples and palaces we visited. Able to answers any and all questions. The monkey temple was an amazing experience. There are a lot of monkeys so prepare yourself! They will jump on you but if you are calm and friendly so are they. Just beware if you have long hair they may grab at it and pull a little, but you can shake them off if you need. Overall great day!

Monkey city is like nothing else! - Great experience! Piya was so kind. Before going, we were quite worried about the length of the drive but the van was very comfortable. Piya is a pro at taking photos and makes sure to get you all the best shots. If you do this tour, expect to get dirty (bring hand sanitizer/wipes) and be ready to take off all loose clothings (the monkeys are grabbers!)
