- Wat Phanan Choeng Worawihan - Wat Phanan Choeng Worawihan is a highly frequented temple in Ayutthaya. Despite its new appearance, this ancient temple is thought to have been constructed before Ayutthaya was founded.
- Wat Mahathat - Wat Mahathat, known as “the temple of the Great Relic,” was a key temple in the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Situated on the historic island, the large monastery boasts a massive central prang, a very large principal viharn and ubosot, and numerous subsidiary chedis and viharns. The upper section of its once towering central prang has collapsed, leaving only the base intact.
One of the temple’s most photographed features is the head of a stone Buddha image encased in tree roots.
- Wat Phra Sri Sanphet - Wat Phra Si Sanphet was the most sacred temple within the old Royal Palace in Ayutthaya, Thailand’s ancient capital, until the city was razed by the Burmese in 1767 during the Burmese-Siamese War. It was the most magnificent and beautiful temple in the capital and served as a prototype for Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok.
