Don’t believe what the website says - We booked a tour online and received a booking confirmation by email with instructions on joining the tour. We were sent a map of 5 locations where we could get the bus, so we walked to the closest. No bus there. In total we had to walk to all 5 offices before we found our coach. Once on the coach I asked the representative to be dropped off at a train station after the tour as was offered on their website. He refused and was the rudest and most sarcastic man ever, shouting at me on the coach. I can’t believe he has a job in customer service. Fortunately after the tour a different representative was at the coach pick up point and he told the driver to drop us at a station which wasn’t too far from the station we wanted to go to. I think this company is just after your money with no intention of providing a good service. I suggest you be wary of what they offer.

"Around Vesuvio" - Buyer Beware - We spent 3 weeks in Italy this past December and had a wonderful time. We could not say enough good things about our vacation except for our experience with "Around Vesuvio" in Pompeii. Our plan was to take a tour of Mount Vesuvius on the morning of Dec. 2, 2023. There was a chance of some rain that day. When we exited the train station, we were approached by staff from Around Vesuvio who offered tours of the mountain. Before we signed up for the tour, I specifically asked what the visibility was like up on the mountain. I was told that "as of 10 minutes ago it was clear". Not convinced, I asked if there was a refund policy in the event we were rained out because it was obviously cloudy out at the time. The staffer said "Yes" they would offer refunds if the tour could not be completed. So we decided to sign up and were loaded onto the bus soon after. We drove up the mountain and at our first scheduled stop to take pics, the wind began picking up and it started to rain. Visibility was poor. Could barely see the coast line below. We continued our trip up the mountain and were forced to turn around as access to the mountain was closed. The gates were shut due to safety concerns. The rain was coming down so hard you could hardly see 100 feet ahead. I completely understand that weather conditions can change. We descended back down the mountain and pulled into a gift shop which was another scheduled stop. We were provided a presentation on Amalfi Lemons and encouraged to sample a farmers' drinks and lemon flavored snacks, etc. After this, we travelled down the mountain and disembarked from the van at the Pompeii Ruins location, not from where we started. I immediately called "Around Vesuvio" and inquired about the refund that was offered because the whole episode was a complete waste of time. To my amazement, I was told that the tour was completed to the best of their ability and that the group was able to stop at the gift shop. Really? I couldn't believe what I heard. I disagreed with the statement and countered that the tour was to see Mount Vesuvius, not some tourist related gift shop. I get that they can't control the weather but in my opinion, we should never have been asked to board the van. The man on the phone actually swore at me when I accused them of being dishonest about the refund policy. He insisted it was "out of their control". I believe making false statements about refunds, taking people's money and loading up the van was completely in their control. My issue with Around Vesuvio is that the management, which is familiar with the local weather conditions and has access to radar, should have cancelled or postponed the planned departure given the impending weather conditions. Instead, they chose to lie to me about the mountain visibility, lied to me about their refund policy and mislead 35-40 other people to climb aboard the van so that they could make $1,000 or so and avoid any downtime costs. If they would have offered a 50 or 25% refund, or even a rain check with an apology, I would have understood and been OK with it. The way they handled the situation was terrible. So based on my experience with them, I would classify Around Vesuvio as a "crooked" organization. Use them at your own risk.
