Great tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum - Our tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum, led by Michele, was phenomenal. Michele provided so much information about the history in such a digestible and engaging manner. He painted a picture of what daily life was, how the city and shops/homes functioned, and what people went through during the eruption. He ran a great tour- Michele knew all the shady spots to pause (great on a hot and sunny day), he left time at important sites for pictures (but he kept things moving), and he kept us updated about transportation, lunch breaks, bathrooms, etc…so we always knew what to expect throughout the day. I highly recommend this tour, and would request Michele if possible!

A Must See Excursion - The guide was incredibly well informed and the tour was structured very well to show us every important detail about the two cities, life there, the homes, the architecture, the artwork and historical developments for the cities prior to Vesuvius’ eruption. So much to see and to witness in person, the antiquities so carefully preserved after being unearthed after thousands of years, is awe-inspiring. A once in a lifetime experience. Well recommended. My only advice—the roads of Pompeii are made up of medium size stones so walking on them for hours can be challenging. Wear sturdy shoes.

Something new from something old. - A first time visit to Herculaneum and a second to Pompeii. There is always something new. Our pick up and drop off was without a hitch and made the trip easy. Our tour leader, Luciano, please forgive my spelling, from Askos archaeological tours was very informative and ensured our experience was the best for us.

Worth the money! - Loved this tour! I hadn’t even heard of Herculaneum until the tour. I was just in it for Pompeii. Thankfully, we got to see Herculaneum too and it was just as interesting if not more than Pompeii. Great tour guide and I love getting to hear from an actual archeologist.

Very knowledgable tour guide - The archaeologist was very knowledgeable and attentive to us all. It really made the experience much richer to have someone such as Paolo who was very kind, attentive as well as a real archaeologist. This was very exciting to us. The only downside was the women’s toilet queues were lengthy at both locations. During our limited lunchtime we spent most of it waiting for the facilities so rushed eating. When we arrived at Herculaneum I had to queue for a very long time to use the facilities, holding up the tour. This felt very stressful for me. Women’s queues are often very long for things such as these and time should be factored in for this, especially given there were only 2 toilets for a queue of 25 women. On a hot day, you cannot afford to not drink water to stay hydrated. Other than this, the tour was very well organised. I personally found taking photos of dead bodies in both locations distasteful and not respectful so I was surprised at this practice, but that was not the fault of the tour guide.

Disorganized and was the Tour Guide really an Archeologist? - Thoroughly enjoyed Pompeii, but the tour itself was delayed due to poor organization on the part of the tour company. Did not appreciate the addition of at least six more individuals throughout the tour. By that point, the tour could hardly be considered 'small group'. Herculaneum was rushed because the tour guide missed the designated train connection plus it took an additional 30 minutes for the tour company to purchase and distribute tickets (more lost time). All in all, not great organization. That said, Pompeii and Herculaneum were incredible. Look for a more reputable tour company!

An Interesting Day - It was pretty good. Lucio was a good guide & very passionate. An interesting day. I would have preferred more time looking at the sites & less time having detailed explanations. Also with 23 people it is misleading to call it "small groups".
