Vesuvius National Park - Transfer to Mt. Vesuvius.
Get on the top of the volcano to see the crater that still smokes slightly. Besides that, you will have a stunning panorama of the Bay of Naples, Capri, Ischia, the edge of the Sorrento coast and more. The last 500m is a very steep uphill walk, and closed-in shoes are essential.
At the end of the visit, back to the main entrance of Pompeii Ruins, called Porta Marina Superiore.

Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius are the undisputed protagonists of the 79 AD eruption. Get to know more about it with this incredible full day experience. You will visit Pompeii in a small group tour led by an Archaeologist guide who will show you the best highlights of the site like the Forum – the main square of the city –, the main houses and buildings. Then meet the hiking guide in the afternoon and leave with our minibus for up to 14 people with direction to Mount Vesuvius. As arrive at Vesuvius entrance first 30 minutes up to the crater there’s a steep walking to reach the top. Hike the volcano and reach the top of it: look inside the still quiescent crater and wonder at the amazing landscape around you and the beautiful panorama overlooking the Bay of Naples. At the end of the excursion be brought back to Pompeii where the tour began.
- Children under 4 y.o. are not allowed
- Wear comfortable shoes, sunglasses and sunscreen in the summer.
- If the Vesuvius is not accessible due to force majeur, the tour will include the visit of Herculaneum instead of Vesuvius.
- please be aware that from the entrance of Vesuvius first 30 minutes is a step walking to reach the crater

Great trip - Despite being forced off the mountain by thunder and lightning we had an amazing time discovering Pompei and all its secrets. It is so worth getting the guided tour and learning so much about the history of the place.

Great trip - Both tour guides were excellent. Anna for Pompei and Mario for Vesuvius. Very personable and extremely knowledgeable. Trip is very organized too. Highly recommend

So much history!!!! - Our guides were so knowledgeable about Pompeii and Vesuvius! Mario's hike up to the crater was amazing. We learned so much from him! He was considerate of our age (late 70's) and stopped frequently on the climb to let us catch our breath, and used the time to give our small group more details about the pyroclastic eruption. At the crater, Monica, the expert archeologist gave us even more details! Last,
but not least, our driver for the trip was Giuseppe, who was very delightful and an amazing driver. A memorable day!!!

Glad we dii i d this tour - Great tour and loved the ease of having a van take us up to Mt. Vesuvius with lots of scientific details about the explosion. Mario was a wealth of information with Vesuvius tour.

Pompeei and Vesuvius - This was a two site tour - first Pompeii and second a trip to the top of Vesuvius with Mario. Both were small groups and both were excellent in content, detail and attentiveness.
Having a guide helped ensure that we saw the best of Pompeii and did so without having to join the swarm of other tourists trying to make head or tail of audio guides or were part of much larger groups.
After Pompeii we had an hour so to wander before joining Mario and 6 others for a minibus ride to to Vesuvius and a 250m walk to the top of the crater. Mario pointed out Pompeii and Herculaneum as well as the fields of fire and (possibly) the next threat of volcanic activity.

Great tour and hike. Would recommend. - Tour guide for both Pompeii and Vesuvius hike were excellent and very knowledgeable. A long day of walking but worth it. A great little find for dinner after was Caupona - Pompeii Restaurant.

Not the tour for me - The second half of the day to Mt Vesuvius was wonderful even with the bad weather. Mario and Giuseppe were fantastic! I felt the Pompei half was a waste of time. I would much rather have just explored by myself, you see the smallest section of Pompei and just hear stories. If you are big into the most minute details you’ll love it. But it was a huge waste for me and after the short break I had between the morning and afternoon session I saw so many more interesting areas within the grounds. I also did this tour which had less included and cost more because it was supposed to be max 14 people. It was well over 20 and you need to use a headset that is absolutely awful. I gave up hearing anything after 20 minutes. Don’t be fooled by the list of activities. It’s literally Pompei and Vesuvius. That’s all. I did so much research into which tour to do and I am beyond disappointed with my choice.
