What real time travel looks like! - Never realized that Pompeii was such a Mecca for phallic symbols. Go figure! The tour was fascinating and helped limit the distance my 94 year old mom had to walk to still take it all in. Our guide was great!!

Upgrade to guided tour - Upon arrival at the ticket desk, we upgraded to a two hour guided tour for 10 euros per person. I highly recommend doing that. Our guide, Heraldo, was extremely knowledgeable and gave us the highlights of Pompeii.

YOU MUST DO POMPEI! - Pompei is an unbelievable place - a must to visit. We went by train and the pick up for our tickets and audio guide was right above the station at Pompei and very quick. Be aware you’ll need to leave either a form of id or credit card to act as deposit for the audio equipment - a little unnerving but this is also the system at the main ticketing office at the site anyway. Make sure you wear good walking shoes or boots, the cobbled roads are nothing like you’d imagine. We allowed 4 hours from train time to train time perhaps 5 hours is needed for a thorough visit. A big site, loads of visitors and little shade and facilities so take food and drink with you. They gave us a good map and audio guide (basically a phone) which shows you where you are, so easy to navigate the large site.

Great for going at your own pace! - The app on the device provided to us was very easy to use and provided our location on the map of the park so it was very easy to navigate and find all of the sites on the audio tour. We were able to go at our own pace which we really enjoyed.

Ok but could be better - Audioguide requires id which was not mentioned in the app event description. Did not have it so could not take audioguide.

Disappointing - We arrived at Pompeii a little after as our bus was late. Upon presenting voucher for audio guide and entry we were told the audio weren't working very well. Did we want to go on a guided tour for an extra 10 euro each? We decided we would fo this. It was then almost 11 am before we got underway for our 2 hour your. We got held up at one point because of the crowds. At this point we left the tour as we could see we were going to run out of time. We continued looking around by ourselves. If we had known this we would have taken our chances with the audio tour we had planned and seen a lot more.

Pompeii is over rated - This was a good way to tour the area which they supplied headsets with the phone. It’s a little difficult to walk unstable ruins with a phone attached to your ear to hear the ruin details.

Ticket evperience sucked! - Tickets were not available on app and we had to go to another location other than the ticketed venue to pick up our tickets. Just wrong!
