Along the way, you’ll encounter the scenic Lagoa do Fogo water trails, before arriving at the island’s largest lake, Lagoa do Fogo.
On the return trip, enjoy breathtaking views of São Miguel’s south coast, as well as the islet of Vila Franca do Campo, renowned for hosting the Red Bull Cliff Diving Championship. The tour concludes with an optional swim at Praia Grande de Água D’Alto beach.

As the journey continues, you will explore the Lagoa do Fogo water trails (levadas), where you will encounter endemic Azorean flora such as Uva da Serra (Vaccinium cylindraceum), Urze (Erica azorica), Folhado (Viburnum tinus), and Linguee. During the ascent, several viewpoints offer breathtaking views of the south coast of São Miguel Island and the islet of Vila Franca do Campo. Ultimately, the trail leads to the magnificent Lagoa do Fogo, the island’s largest lake, situated in the heart of a volcanic crater.
