The best way to see Sete Cidades - We waited until the last minute to book this tour because we were thinking of trying to see the Sete Cidades area on our own in our rental car. We are so glad we chose to go with a professional tour guide. First, he told us so much more than we would have garnered from a tour book. And he was able to take us places in his jeep that were not otherwise accessible to us. He was so informative, sharing his knowledge of geology, history, culture, and the natural environment. It was a private tour and he answered all of our questions. He has lived in the Azores all his life, and it’s clear he loves the countryside. I highly recommend this tour company!

We completely liked it - We had the perfect trip with José. He gaves us the right amount of information, was very friendly and helpful and gave us enough time to explore and enjoy the views. He even organized good weather: after heavy rain before the start, we enjoyed sunshine and lots of blue skies throughout the trip.

Great tour, guide, and views - Jose was an excellent guide for a private tour -- in just 4 hours we covered a ton of ground, learned lots from him about the flora and fauna of the island (he clearly has some naturalist training), and had some nice chats about living in the Azores generally. Great way to see Sete Ciedades and the volcano -- truly stunning views, like you're in Jurassic Park or something.
I will warn -- this is no fault of Jose's of course! -- that the unreliable weather of the mountains means that you sometimes get very poor views. However, at least the day I did it, we started off with way too many clouds but within an hour or so things had completely cleared up and the views were amazing. I think there's probably really no way to plan for this, you just have to accept that it's a bit of a crapshoot.

Superb experience!!! - One of the most amazing experiences with the most attentive and expert guides ever!
My guide knew more than just textbook knowledge of the volcanos and island; he shared his passion and deep love. He was attentive and just plain fun to be around. Great sense of humor and excellent communication throughout the entire experience. Would do another tour with him again, anytime. I will recommend any family and friends that plan to visit Sao Miguel to contact him FIRST to book tour of Sete Cidades before hotel and flight - an experience with him is essential!

Gain new vantage points both in views and perspectives - Thank you José for making this already stunning island become even more alive with the geographical, fauna and flora as well as cultural knowledge you shared with us.
