Great people and great food - Nadja was an excellent guide of the city. Both Nadja and Patricia were accommodating to our dairy intolerances. Not only was there food but history of the city and a lot of info about Azorean culture. We loved the tour ! Highly recommend!

Great family experience - A fantastic way to learn history of the island, see the city, and taste many delicious bites. Our kids (aged 10 and 5) also loved it and there was food even our picky eaters enjoyed. It was a great thing to do with kids because they walked just enough in between snacks. A highlight of our trip?

Not worth it - I was unfortunately severely disappointed and underwhelmed by this food tour. It was average in many ways but especially below average in value for money. This tour cost us 89 EUROS PER PERSON. At the end of it I felt like I would pay no more than 30-40 euros for what we received. The tour includes a few basic tastings, the guides seemed knowledgeable enough. The food itself was objectively inexpensive (sausage, bread, cheap fried sardines), everyone had to share dishes instead of receiving individual portions which made us feel awkward about having the food which was not made clear in the advertisement. Some parts of the tour were cool but they at times would show you a place and let you know to explore it on your own later or suggest you buy food there yourself. For example, they took us to a cheese shop and we were encouraged to buy our own cheese and whatnot. I was expecting that at each stop there would be something small to try at least, a cheese shop especially. Having participated in many tours worldwide, I typically end these experiences feeling enlightened and enthusiastic about the place I am visiting, but this time I felt that this tour left me feeling ripped off, disappointed and embarrassed since I advocated for my partner and I to go on the tour. At the end of the tour they encourage you to review the experience and I saw all the other folks on our tour jump to leave a 5 star review. This is my personal and honest opinion of this tour. Others seemed to enjoy it but I feel like it was not worth it and I would not recommend to my friends. There were kids on the tour and so it is family friendly if that matters to you, but even then, it is quite expensive for what it is. Overall, it felt boring, slow, and overpriced. Save yourself some money and read a few articles online or watch some Youtube videos on the food in Sao Miguel.
