• Mount Popa - Begin the day with a pickup from your Bagan hotel by a guide and driver, and set off towards Mount Popa. This extinct volcano, visible from afar, is crowned with stunning pagodas and stupas. Known as the abode of animist spirits called ‘nats’, visitors can ascend the 777 steps to reach the shrine at the summit. At the mountain’s base, the Nat Shrine showcases mannequin-like figures representing the 37 Nats, making it a significant pilgrimage site. There will be ample opportunity to explore the intriguing monasteries, stupas, and shrines, and to take in the breathtaking panoramic views across the Myingyan Plain.

• Old Bagan - Enjoy lunch at a premier resort before heading back towards Bagan. En route, a stop at a local palm tree plantation offers a relaxing break and a glimpse into the local lifestyle centered around palm trees.

• Zee O Village ( ဇီးအို ကျေးရွာ ) - Located just outside Bagan, the village of Zee O offers a chance to see how locals preserve their Sacred Forest, spanning 16 hectares and home to over 600 Ingyinn trees. These trees are listed on the IUCN’s Red List of Threatened Species. The villagers, respecting “the two guardian spirits” of the forest, refrain from removing even a single branch or leaf. The village head will gladly guide visitors through the forest.

Additionally, visiting the village’s library and clinic provides insight into their operations for the community and surrounding areas. The village’s thousand-year-old Tamarind tree, a well-preserved landmark, is perfect for a photo opportunity.

Return to your Bagan hotel around 6 pm.

• Return transfers for this excursion apply only / are inclusive for customers staying in and inside Old and New Bagan. Transfers outside these areas, including any accommodation outside this area such as Mount Popa, river cruise ports and Bagan’s Airport are excluded. Supplements apply for customers who want to join this excursion outside one of these regions.
• Large part of this excursion includes walking up stairs. This may not suit guests with walking issues.
• Bear in mind that such paths may turn slippery / muddy after a rain shower. We suggest wearing good walking shoes, preferred closed shoes, when booking this tour.
