Arrival in Port-au-Prince: A Warm Welcome

The moment I touched down in Port-au-Prince, I could feel the vibrant energy of Haiti enveloping me. The airport was bustling with life, and as I stepped outside, the warm Caribbean breeze greeted me like an old friend. My partner and I were whisked away to our hotel, where a welcome drink awaited us. It was the perfect start to our three-day adventure exploring La Gonave Island and the Cotes des Arcadins.

Our first day was all about immersing ourselves in the rich culture and history of Port-au-Prince. We visited the National Museum, where the stories of Haiti’s past came alive through fascinating exhibits. The ruins of the Notre Dame Cathedral stood as a poignant reminder of the resilience of the Haitian people. As we wandered through the city, the vibrant art and music that filled the streets were a testament to the creativity and spirit of the locals.

Sailing to La Gonave: A Day of Discovery

The second day of our journey was one I had been eagerly anticipating. We set sail on a private yacht to La Gonave Island, a place that promised untouched beauty and adventure. The ocean was a brilliant shade of blue, and as a former professional surfer, I couldn’t resist the call of the waves. Anse a Galets, a charming village on the island, offered a glimpse into the daily lives of the islanders. The locals welcomed us with open arms, sharing stories and laughter as we explored the village. It was a day filled with discovery, both above and below the water’s surface. As the sun began to set, we returned to our hotel, where a delicious dinner awaited us, capping off a perfect day.

Cotes des Arcadins: A Relaxing Farewell

Our final day was spent soaking up the sun on the beautiful beaches of the Cotes des Arcadins. The soft sand and gentle waves provided the perfect backdrop for a day of relaxation. I took the opportunity to paddleboard along the coast, enjoying the tranquility of the ocean and the stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
