Excellent local experience - After coming to Port Douglas for many years we finally had time to do this experience. Not far to drive for crocodiles, cassowaries and birds. We got closer to the crocs than at Hartley’s Creek! Cassowary talk was very informative. Lots of birds. The boys did the Swimming with croc experience and found it excellent but a little pricey - but they would do it again. A bit of walking but nothing too far and everything worth seeing was accessible. Go at your own pace. A worth while experience close to the heart of Port Douglas.

Inspirational wildlife habitat - The Wildlife habitat is great, we were there for a couple of hours and listened to the tours, it was great to see the wildlife so free and the staff were excellent and very knowledgeable. There has been alot of interesting and inspirational work to get this up and running and to ensure the wildlife has a safe home.

SWIM WITH THE SALTIES - fantastic !!!!! - “Swim With the Salties “ is a wonderful experience . We have been visiting Wildlife Habitat for 22 years . Particularly when the kids were young, it was great for them. This time they have a new attraction “Swim With the Salties “. I took my adult son Stevie ( who has some developmental issues ) . He LOVED it. The staff were great with him. They also fed the crocs right in front of him , so it was extremely exciting ! We absolutely got value for money.

Wonderful Wildlife for the Family - In an effort to see more unique Australian wildlife, our family took an afternoon trip to the Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas. We did not have a rental car, but were able to get there through the SR shuttle. I was pleasantly surprised at the wildlife that we saw there! We only had a couple hours at the end of the afternoon, so the staff provided us information on the sites that would be closing early. The staff also provided an informative pelican presentation and helped me to spot the kookaburra on site. We loved seeing the cassowaries, wallabies, kangaroo (which we happily fed), various birds, emu, crocodiles, and koalas. By the time that we visited, the snack bar was closed and vending machine wasn’t working, but the gift shop did have some drinks and ice cream available for sale. We bought a few souvenirs before heading out. It was a lovely experience for our whole family. Thank you!

Wish we had gone earlier in the week so we could have used the five day return pass offered! - Spent an enjoyable couple of hours in this animal park. Finally had the opportunity to see the elusive Cassowary! Koalas were sleeping of course. There’s a lot of beautiful birds. A bunch of kangaroos and we saw one with a joey in its pouch!

Fun for all! - Wonderful experience! Lots of opportunities to interact with local animals. Great “shows” /demonstrations. We enjoyed the reptile and crocodile feeding presentation and lots of fun feeding the kangaroos. Great place for families.

Praise for Max - We loved Wildlife Habitat so much that we returned 2 days later. The highlight was the breakfast with the birds - we have a lot of love for those birds now, especially Max. The breakfast was great. Highlight of our Port Douglas trip - a great activity!

If you love birds, go here! - This place is undergoing a lot of renovations I think, however what is awesome about it is how much the public can interact with the animals. The birds in the cafe are an absolute highlight. My son formed a very, very special bond with Mitch, the pink cockatoo. So much so that Mitch didn't want him to leave!! Apparently he loves kids but not adults. He actually got mad and chased my husband away, which was really funny. My son was so overwhelmed with joy from this bird that he cried. We will not forget this!

like the open space... - like the open space concept for the birds & ducks to roam around. the croc talk was pretty good, prefer the croc feeding session to be more engaging and more actions. nonetheless, a good zoo to visit if you are around

Poor condition of the animals - The condition of many of the animals is very poor. The cassowary have very little space and almost no vegetation. The kangaroos and agile wallabies have no grass and their area is overcrowded. They are feed processed pellets continuously by visitors. The crocs are taunted with meat on a string so visitors can supposedly see how ferocious they are. The bird life is sad. So many species thrown together that would not be naturally. Many of the birds have clipped wings so visitors can have breakfast with them or they are forced to sit on treeless branches in the entrance. Many birds have lost features and are in poor condition. The place should be condemned. I doubt there has been a Vet visit in ages. Don’t go it’s depressing.
