- Petronas Twin Towers - Standing at 451.9 meters, the iconic Petronas Twin Towers is a symbol of modern Malaysia. - Batu Caves - Set in a limestone hill, Batu Caves is a unique and captivating cave temple. It features three large caves, with the main cave housing elaborate Hindu shrines. A highlight of visiting is climbing the 272 steps to the temple.
- Menara Kuala Lumpur - Rising 421 meters above Bukit Nanas and 94 meters above sea level, KL Tower is a notable feature of the city’s skyline. Its architecture showcases the country’s Islamic heritage, with details including Arabic scripts, Islamic tiles, classic Islamic floral and abstract motifs, and calming color schemes.
- Royal Selangor Visitor Centre - The Visitor Centre takes you back over a century to the founding of Royal Selangor and its deep connection to Malaysia’s history. Complimentary guided tours offer insights into the development of tin mining in the Malay Peninsula in the 1800s and showcase traditional pewtersmithing tools, antique pewter, and ancient tin currency at the Centre’s Pewter Museum.
- Thean Hou Temple - Thean Hou Temple, built between 1981 and 1987, combines traditional ornate decorations with modern architecture. The large temple spans six tiers and is managed by Malaysia’s Hainanese community, descendants of sea-faring fisherfolk from Hainan Island, China.
- National Monument - The National Monument honors those who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom, especially during the nation’s fight against communism. The grounds feature one of the world’s largest free-standing bronze sculptures, created in 1966 by Felix de Weldon, who also sculpted the famous Iwo Jima monument in Washington, DC.
- East Coast Batik Sdn Bhd (Batik CHONG) - Established in 1974, East Coast Batik is one of the oldest batik and handicraft centers in Klang Valley. The gallery reveals that batik is more than just elaborately designed cloth. Syarika East Coast offers a comprehensive experience in Malaysian batik and handicrafts.
- The River of Life - The River of Life is a notable attraction in Kuala Lumpur, located near the city’s oldest mosque, Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad. It is the meeting point of the Klang and Gombak rivers.
- Istana Negara - Istana Negara, or the National Palace, is the official residence of the King of Malaysia. This grand building on Jalan Duta became the National Palace in November 2011, replacing the old palace on Jalan Istana. It features 22 domes, with the largest dome reaching 40 meters. Note: Visits are limited to the exterior.
- National Mosque (Masjid Negara) - Masjid Negara is one of the city’s most prominent landmarks, featuring a unique star-shaped dome and a 73-meter high minaret. Located near the KL Lake Gardens, visitors are advised to dress modestly, and women must wear headscarves.
- Sultan Abdul Samad Building - The iconic Sultan Abdul Samad Building, located in front of Dataran Merdeka, houses the Supreme and High Courts. Known for its unique Moorish design and clock tower, it is a popular photo spot for visitors.
- Merdeka Square - Merdeka Square, situated opposite the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and next to the Royal Selangor Club, is where the Union Flag was lowered, and the Malayan flag was raised for the first time at midnight on August 31, 1957. It has since been the venue for the annual Merdeka Parade.
- Malayan Railway Administration Building - One of Malaysia’s most beautiful old buildings, the Railway Station and Administration Building, is a stunning example of Moorish architecture.
- Sri Maha Mariamman Temple - This magnificent Hindu temple, one of the oldest, features a 22-meter-high gate tower and portico adorned with intricately carved images of Hindu deities. Inside, the deities of the Hindu goddess Maha Mariamman are embellished with gold and precious stones. The area is filled with the sights and sounds of peddlers selling jasmine garlands and aromatic incense.
- Kuala Lumpur City Gallery - Founded in 1989, KL City Gallery occupies a building that has served various purposes, including as a printing office, the Ministry of Labour, and the Postal Authorities. It now features two floors of exhibition space, a cafe, a museum shop, and serves as a tourist information center.
