- Batu Caves - Batu Caves is a renowned and well-loved tourist destination in Selangor. Home to a Hindu temple and shrine, it draws in thousands of devotees and visitors.
A limestone hill situated just north of Kuala Lumpur, Batu Caves boasts three main caves with temples and Hindu shrines. The primary highlight is the massive statue of a Hindu deity at the entrance, along with a challenging 272-step climb that rewards with a breathtaking view of the city skyline. Monkeys play around the caves, making it a favorite spot for rock climbing enthusiasts. The site also features paintings and depictions of Hindu gods.
- Seri Wawasan Bridge, Putrajaya - The first stop is one of the seven bridges in Putrajaya, and it is the most graceful. This 240-meter cable bridge showcases a futuristic design inspired by the form of a sailing ship. The Seri Wawasan Bridge can be seen from various points in the city.
- Putrajaya Lake - Putrajaya Lake is a central feature in Putrajaya, Malaysia. This 650-hectare artificial lake serves as a natural cooling system for the city and is also used for recreation, fishing, water sports, and water transport.
- Perdana Putra - This grand building sits atop the main hill in Putrajaya, catching the eye with its palace-like green dome and stone walls. Combining Islamic and modern architectural styles, this office complex is where ministers and high-ranking officials work. While it is not open to the public, its magnificence can still be admired from the outside.
- Putra Mosque - The Putra Mosque is distinguished by its rose-tinted granite, giving it a signature pink hue that is as impressive inside as it is outside. Built by the lake in 1997, the mosque can accommodate up to 15,000 worshippers. Visitors often stop to take photos of this elegant landmark, which draws inspiration from Malay and Middle Eastern designs.
- Seri Perdana - Seri Perdana is the official residence of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, located in Putrajaya.
- Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin (Masjid Besi) - The Iron Mosque, also known as the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque, is another architectural marvel worth visiting. Made primarily of steel, its “wire mesh” design is influenced by Chinese and German architecture. Unlike other mosques in Malaysia, it lacks a minaret for the call to prayer. From a distance, it appears to be constructed of metal or glass.
- Millennium Monument - Built in 2005 to mark the new millennium, this is the first monument erected in Putrajaya. The walkway spiraling around the monument depicts Malaysia’s history, with panels describing significant events in the country. A time capsule at the base of the monument is set to be opened in 2020. As you ascend the ramps of the Millennium Monument, you can enjoy sweeping views of the waterfront.
- 172, Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah - Istana Melawati is the second national palace of Malaysia’s Yang di-Pertuan Agong in Putrajaya, serving as a royal retreat for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
- Moroccan Pavilion Putrajaya - The Moroccan Pavilion is a five-star destination for Instagram-worthy photos, if such a rating existed. Built to symbolize the diplomatic ties between the two governments, its stunning architecture and intricate craftsmanship resemble the villages and imperial cities of Morocco.
- Anjung Floria - Anjung Floria is a well-known public park in Putrajaya, located in Precinct 4. It hosts an annual garden festival called Royal Floria Putrajaya, with a different theme each year. For example, the 2016 festival’s theme was “Magical World of Floria,” featuring chrysanthemums as the flower theme. It is also a picturesque spot for photography, with the China-Malaysia Friendship Garden being a prime location for capturing photos that make you feel like you’re abroad.
- Agriculture Heritage Park - Visitors can sample fresh fruits and observe activities such as rubber tapping, latex collection, crop maintenance, fruit preservation, and more. Attractions include the visitors’ complex, an orchard, an herbs and spices trail, a clonal rubber plot, and a viewing deck. The park also offers various agro-products for sale, and numerous agro-based activities and programs are available for visitors year-round.
- Putrajaya International Convention Centre - The Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) is one of Malaysia’s top venues for meetings and conventions. Nestled in an oasis of green parks, lakes, and wetlands, it is a meticulously planned, high-tech center for all types of meetings. It was the first convention center to receive the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Best Practices Award by ASEAN in 2007 and has since garnered many accolades, including the Best Brands in Services - Convention Centre Award by the Asia Pacific Brand Foundation (APBF) 2013-2014 and the International Quality Crown (IQC) Award 2014 in the Gold Category.
- Taman Wawasan - A hidden gem! That’s what we felt on our first visit to Taman Wawasan Putrajaya. “Wawasan Park” is our direct translation, with “Wawasan” meaning vision. The garden was named in alignment with Malaysia’s “Vision 2020,” a goal for the country to become developed by 2020. Back to the park, it is truly vast, touching the boulevard on one end and the lakeside of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, flanking Lebuh Ehsan (Ehsan Avenue) on another. Still unsure of its size? Well, if we jog slowly, it might take us an hour to complete a full round of the garden.
