Located at the mouth of the Arade River, Rocha Beach stretches over a vast sandy area about 3 kilometers long, irregularly interrupted by unique rock formations sculpted by the sea over tens of thousands of years.
Often chosen for Algarve tourism photos and featured in international campaigns, it is now one of the most popular resorts in southern Portugal. This popularity is boosted by a variety of nightlife options, including its own casino.
Bathed by a calm and warm sea that allows for safe swimming, Rocha Beach also offers facilities for various sports such as basketball, football, volleyball, and aerobics.
- Joao de Arens Beach - Located between Praia do Vau and Prainha, Ponta de João D’Arens is a true gem in terms of biodiversity and scenery.

- Praia Grande - With its white houses extending down to the banks of the Arade River, Ferragudo is a charming fishing village located opposite Portimão, with which it once shared the responsibility of defending this stretch of coastline. This defense was ensured by fortresses on either side that could create a crossfire to protect these settlements from enemy naval attacks.
Next to Ferragudo, the vast sandy area lives up to its name, Praia Grande (Big Beach), and offers excellent conditions for various water sports, including schools for surfing and windsurfing.

Then, you will head out to sea through Praia da Rocha to Praia do Alemão, continuing to Ponta de Arens. Here, the boat can be moored to take in the views, swim, and enjoy a glass of Portuguese white wine. Visiting Alvor is also an option.
