Good start to our Porto visit - We had arrived at Porto on a Sunday morning and we had this trip booked for a 16.30 start in order to provide a brief sightseeing understanding before a land-based trip the following days. The marina is a little way out of the centre of Porto so we took a taxi (cost around 6.5 Euros). There was a little mayhem at the marina since quite a few trips were going off at the same time. Our small group (around 8 persons) were on a pleasant enough boat with 2 guides. The boat was comfortable and the guides very pleasant and spoke good English. the trip lasted 2-h during which we were given an explanation of Port wine production (including vino verde) and some key sights whilst we passed under 6 (nearly 7) bridges. The trip went to the mouth of the River. During the trip we enjoyed 3 types of port/wine and had some snacks (bread, cheeses, and meats). A very enjoyable start to our 4 day city visit.

Great fun! - A wise Portuguese man told us to avoid the tourist traps whilst in Porto but our boat trip on the Douro wasn’t in the slightest bit touristy and felt more like a cruise on the river sharing wine and snacks and chatting with old friends. We had a really nice group with us on the boat and our guides, whose names I sadly don’t remember, (they were cousins who shared the exact same birthday!) were so friendly and funny that the time just flew by and we were sorry for it to end! It was one of the highlights of our weekend in Porto (sorry, not sorry Miguel! 😉)

Definitely would recommend - We had a really good time on the boat. Our captain Marcello was very good explaining the history of Porto. We enjoyed the wine too. Unfortunately there was a lot of clouds so no sunset but that was ok. We’re very happy we did the cruise. I would recommend it to friends if I had any.

Wine tasting River Cruise - Really enjoyed experience, guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Wine tasting was explained well and any questions answered. Also relaxed style so time to just chat and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the river. We would recommend small boat cruise with max. 8 people as more personal. Thanks

Disappointing - It was interesting but not special. There were three wines to taste only two of which were port the other vinho verde the snacks were also minimal. The other guests were fun and the two hosts very pleasant but overall it was a little disappointing. However our expectations were high after a fabulous boat trip with wine in Lisbon
