  • Douro River - The tour predominantly features the Douro River as the picturesque backdrop throughout the day. The wineries visited offer stunning views of the river.
  • Peso Da Regua - Whenever possible, there is a stop at the historic city of Peso da RĂ©gua in the Douro Valley, known for its wine commerce. Guests receive a brief explanation about the city and have some free time for coffee and photos.
  • Quinta do Tedo - Quinta do Tedo is one of the wineries that can be visited on the tour. During this visit, a local guide explains the wine-making process of Quinta do Tedo. It includes a guided wine tasting session where the different wines are introduced. NOTE: Wineries or the order of wineries visited may vary depending on availability. NOTE 2: Visits to wineries and river cruises are not fully private and are open to external participants.
  • The Douro Valley - In the heart of the Douro Valley, there is an opportunity to visit PinhĂ£o, a small village known for its historic railway station. PinhĂ£o was once a significant hub for the commerce and transport of wine from Douro to Porto. The wine was first commercialized and then shipped in traditional Rabelo boats to age in Vila Nova de Gaia, across the river in Porto.
  • PinhĂ£o Railway Station - As part of the visit to PinhĂ£o, there is a brief stop at the 19th-century railway station. The highlight is the 24 panels of blue and white tiles depicting typical scenes of Douro Valley culture.
  • Quinta do Bomfim - Quinta do Bomfim offers an exceptional selection of Port. During the visit to Quinta da RoĂªda, there is a special wine tasting session where guests can try unique selected wines based on their preferences.
  • Quinta do Beijo - Quinta do Beijo is another winery that can be visited on the tour. This small local winery offers excellent wines that are not available in the city. The visit is usually conducted by the owner, who shares insights about the production and flavors of the wines. NOTE: Wineries or the order of wineries visited may vary depending on availability. NOTE 2: Visits to wineries and river cruises are not fully private and are open to external participants.
  • D’Origem - Alternatively, D’Origem may be visited instead of Quinta do Beijo or Quinta do Tedo. This small, interesting winery in Casal de Loivos offers breathtaking views over the Douro Valley. At D’Origem, guests can taste DOC Douro wines and visit a small olive oil museum that operated until 2001, learning about traditional olive oil production.

For a great day out take a small group tour! - This tour was a great start to our holiday. Pedro is a very knowledgeable guide & a good driver. Travelling in a small group meant we had the opportunity to engage more with the people we met at the wineries & were soon enjoying each others company. Pedro’s enthusiasm & local knowledge enabled us to see the early stages of wine production - grapes straight from harvest & those which had been traditionally pressed, fermenting away! We had a tasty lunch in a small Restaurante Tipico which would not have been possible in a bigger group. It felt good our trip was supporting smaller enterprises & businesses directly.

No hesitation to book again with Oporto Road Trips - My husband and I loved Douro Valley so much we decided to book another day last minute. I'm so glad we did. Our driver and guide, Pedro, was fun and friendly - also very knowledgable. We didn't know any of the other couples, but by the end of the day we'd become fast friends. We opted for three wineries (skipped the boat ride because we did that the day before) and we enjoyed every moment of the entire tour. Thank you for a wonderful time, Pedro & company.

Fantastic Day Trip with 3 Wineries - This tour was the highlight of our trip to Porto! It was well organized and our guide, Pedro, was fun and knowledgeable, guiding our group in both English and Portuguese. We chose the 3 winery option rather than the boat tour and it was a seamless transition to a quiet winery for a near private tasting. I recommend to anyone interested it learning more about wine and the history of the region!

Well Worth the Money - Joo was a great tour guide. He did a great job driving in the rain and explaining everything to us. He was very patient and friendly. The Duoro Valley was gorgeous. Amazing views and good wine were very much enjoyed. We were a group of 8, and everyone was very friendly. We really lucked out. The wineries did a good job of explaining their processes. If you order a veggie meal, I would recommend remaining them in the morning. I was very pleased with the meal. They remembered to include a lot of veggie proteins. You may have to fight off some meat eaters from eating all your food. I'd definitely recommend this tour.

A trip through Portuguese wine country - Our tour went through three different wineries, a family run winery where we had three different wines, another larger property with two wines and a port, and a third with three different kinds of port. This tour was a great way to get more comfortable with Portuguese wines, especially port. I’ve had my share over the years, but I’m not as familiar with it as I am with other wines and it was very informative to listen to port talked about by someone much more knowledgeable than myself. Our tour guide on this day was Sandro. He’s very knowledgeable about the wine industry in Portugal, and during the time spent driving from place to place gave us a good perspective on the history of the Douro Valley region and how the industry has developed over the years. He absolutely added a different and valuable perspective to the tour.

Unforgettable Douro Valley Tour with Pedro – A Must-Do in Portugal! - Our day trip from Porto to the Douro Valley was unforgettable, thanks to Pedro, our knowledgeable and personable host. He kept the small group engaged and even made a special stop in a charming town for coffee, adding a personalized touch. The wineries offered delicious wines and stunning views, and the lunch was a highlight—delicious in a beautiful setting. Pedro’s passion for the region was clear, making the experience even more special. We highly recommend this tour and would book with Pedro again in a heartbeat. It was the best experience we had in Portugal!

Not what was represented. Long stretches in the van - If I were to rate this to our solely on our tour guide Luis I would rate it five star. He was witty, intelligent, honest, did a great job of coordinating the eight of us who were in the van. The van was relatively comfortable and his driving was excellent. However on rating the tour as a whole I am only giving it three stars for several reasons. First off was that the description claims that were to spend 20 minutes at Pinhao station, which as a train enthusiast was a big deal to me, and we did not. I literally had to run there and back to get a picture of the front without being given an opportunity to go in. Also the wineries that are mentioned in the description are not the wineries we want to, and I specifically researched the wineries before booking to see their ratings and have a better understanding of this tour compared to others. The wineries we went to were nice, but not what I would have chosen. I chose the 3 wineries option as opposed to 2 and a boat ride. The 3rd winery was merely sitting at a table for an hour sampling 3 wines. Fortunately I had fabulous company. Lastly was the fact that we spent such long stretches in the van. It is a drive from Porto, naturally, but we drove by many beautiful lookout points without stopping, and those from the wineries collectively were not in any way a great representation of the overall beauty there. Simply by extending this tour By another 30 to 40 minutes we could have easily stopped off 10 minutes at multiple overlooks, not only to stretch our legs and get us out of the van, but to truly see the beauty of the landscapes instead of through a window. Some people felt carsick with the winding roads, so if you are prone to that, you might want to bring bonine or dramamine. Lunch was great. Fabulous company. But I didn't feel the value for this tour was there. Disappointed overall. If I had to do it all over again. I would have chosen to take the historical train and stayed a night or 2.
