Unforgettable Day in the Douro Valley! - Our private Douro Valley wine tour was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. Our guide, Bruno, was the perfect host—friendly, outgoing, and an incredibly safe driver. He kept us smiling, laughing, and learning all day, sharing wonderful stories about the region and Portuguese culture. He even offered to take photos for us throughout the day, which was so thoughtful and appreciated.
The boat cruise on the Douro River was beautiful—about an hour long, with stunning views and an excellent crew including Pascoal and Hugo, who served great snacks and a tasty local drink.
Lunch was amazing—authentic Portuguese food paired with outstanding wines in a truly magical setting. Our visit to Quinta do Beijo was another highlight—Sara was warm, funny, and engaging, and the wines were delicious. We even got to step inside a wine barrel and ended up shipping some bottles home!
We loved the comfort of our private car and the easy, genuine conversations with Bruno throughout the day. He’s truly the epitome of Portuguese hospitality, and we wholeheartedly recommend this tour. Everyone should have the chance to spend a day exploring the Douro Valley with Bruno—absolutely unforgettable!

Unforgettable Day in Douro Valley! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Luís, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable, warm, and passionate about the region. He shared fascinating stories about the history of winemaking in Douro and answered every question with enthusiasm. The van was super comfortable, and we appreciated the scenic drive through winding hills, vineyards, and charming villages.
One of the biggest highlights of the day was a peaceful 1-hour boat ride along the Douro River. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking — terraced vineyards cascading down the hillsides. It felt like something out of a dream and gave us a whole new perspective of the valley.
The lunch stop was another highlight: a delicious, home made traditional Portuguese meal at a private historic house not open to the public. We even got to see the kitchen and how the food was being prepared!
Lastly we visited a family winery estate for an exclusive tasting/tour given by the owners son. We had many laughs, generous tastings, and loved the hospitality there.
From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized — we didn’t have to worry about a thing, just sit back, sip, and soak in the views.
This tour struck the perfect balance between education, relaxation, and fun. We left with full hearts, happy tastebuds, and a few bottles to take home. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Portugal — the Douro Valley is magic, and this tour made it even more special and was our favorite part of our 9 day trip.

First glimpse of the Duoro Valkey - We picked this tour for my wife's birthday as we appreciate wine and it was our first time in Portugal. Fabio was our guide for this trip and he had a great energy and he did an amazing job as a facilitator for the tour.
This tour picks up and drops you off at your hotel. Fabio was prompt and arrived about 10 minutes prior to our pick-up time. From there, you depart from Porto and head towards the scenic Duoro Valley. It's a bit of a drive but, the car we were picked up in was very comfortable.
Our first stop was the winery where you will be able to sample a flight of their Duoro Wines and Port Wines. I should mention that it is possible you may be grouped into a tour with others at the winery as the winery itself gives the tour. However, they put on a very fun, passionate, and entertaining tour that really helps educate about the process it takes to get from the field and into the bottle, the differences port, and understandings of thr D.O.C. that they are a part of it. With any wine tour, you'll be able to purchase and ship anything you liked.
By this time, you might be getting a little hungry and so you'll arrive at a special little restaurant that you can only visit if your a part of a tour. Open flames, wood smokey scents, delicious grilled meats and sides, and most importantly the wine. Most of the seating is outside and on the perfect day we attended, it was a great experience! Your tour guide will be with you as you can continue any questions or conversations you may have going. You'll be given full glasses of wine but this is also a sampling. You'll receive a white and red Duoro wine and a few special ports. And again, if you like what you taste, you can purchase to taste later. The hosts for lunch are amazing and energetic people. You'll have a great time here.
Lastly, its time for the river cruise. Again, you may be grouped with a few others as you as guided up and down the river. Accompanied with a port cocktail and small bites to eat, you'll learn about the origins of Port and the relevance of the river. For roughly an hour. Our captain(s) did a great job and exemplified passion as they talked about everything. All while being surrounded by the beautiful hillsides.
At the end of this, it's time to have the journey back to your hotel. I wouldn't be surprised if you take a small nap.
All in all. A great experience. Fabio was amazing, the places we were brought were amazing. You'll have plenty of photo opportunities! If this sounds like it's up your alley, definitely visit with them the Duoro Valley.

Don't miss out on this amazing experience - We had a wonderful day on this tour to the Douro Valley, right from the beginning where we was picked up by our driver Joao and till we returned to our hotel in the evening. We drove through wonderful landscapes of mountains, the river, small villages and lots of wine fields.
Our first stop was at Quinto de Beijo, a small winery where we tasted table wine and port wine. The guide on the vineyard told about the history of Quinto de Beijo with lot of humor and enthusiasm
Then Joao took us through the wine fields using a small road wich normally are used only by locals - an amazing experience😃
Next stop was at a restaurant, hidden behind a small door. Behind the door was a beautiful and peaceful garden and we was served snacks and lunch, all local dishes and prepared on open fire, all served with local wine and portwine.
Last stop was in Pinhao were we was on a cruise on Douro river. Again we was served local snacks and a port tonic. Our guide Claudia told about the wine fields and the history of portwine back from the beginning in the 17th century.
After the cruise the time had come to drive back to Porto and we returned full off beautiful impressions and amazing experiences and very tired 🥰

Wine and Dine - Spent the day in Douro Valley and enjoyed all of it. The boat ride was serene and beautiful. Enjoyed the peacefulness (and drinks/food). Loved touring the local winery run by a family for over 5 generations. Enjoyed the included lunch at a local place which makes their own wines served only in restaurant. Accommodated special meal request. Our guide/driver (João) was absolutely AMAZING!! He took care of us and modified the day to meet our requests without complaints. Highly recommend him and Wonder Tours if you visit Portugal! They will listen and customize your day per your requirements.
