- Porto - Our family-run business ensures everything is meticulously organized to offer you an unforgettable experience. We’ll embark on an approximately 8-hour journey through the best parts of the Douro Valley. Starting with a 1-hour trip, the guide will discuss Portugal, the regions we pass through, and answer all your questions. Along the way, we’ll pass through significant areas such as Amarante, known for its green wine; Serra do Marão, home to one of Europe’s longest tunnels; and Vila Real, a key city in the northern region’s development. This fantastic trip will immerse you in the rich stories of our country.
- Amarante - Our first stop, Amarante, boasts the majestic Serra do Marão and the Tâmega River, which flows through the city, enhancing its picturesque charm. The city, possibly founded by the Roman centurion Amarantus, connects the provinces of Minho and Trás-os-Montes. In the 13th century, St. Gonçalo, a Benedictine monk and the city’s patron saint, built a bridge over the Tâmega. Amarante is also famous for its sweets, including papos de anjo, brisas do Tâmega, toucinho do céu, bolos de São Gonçalo, and galhofas, available in local cake shops and cafés.
