Excellent private tour with expert - Our day with Joao was terrific. Joao is very knowledgeable on the beautiful Douro valley and its wines. We had a private tour where we saw multiple wineries and enjoyed an authentic local lunch, all with full explanation from Joao. We would highly recommend this tour and look forward to a chance to join João again.

Knowledgeable, wine focused, fun - It was great seeing and learning about the stunning valley, visiting three different quintas, and spending the day with Joao who was both super knowledgeable and fun. He was open to customization and recommended a great restaurant when we returned to Porto. Highly recommend!!

Worth every penny! - Definitely worth every penny! What a great experience we had with Joao and we'd recommend this to anyone interested in visiting the beautiful Douro Valley just outside of Porto. From the moment Joao met us near our hotel (we made a last minute change to our pickup location but otherwise he would have picked us up at our hotel), he was engaging and extremely personable. On our drive out to the first winery, we engaged in conversations spanning the history of Porto & Portugal, our visit to Portugal thus far, the background of Douro Valley & its spectrum of grape varietals and wines, and more. Needless to say, the drive went by extremely fast! Joao took us to a small winery where we were led on a tour of the facility and then sat down to taste their wines. During this time, Joao stepped aside and entrusted our experience to the winery team. At our next stop, Joao took us to a larger winery where we tasted a wide array of port wines, many of which we had not experienced before. Joao personally walked us through the flight of wines and a tour of the facility. It was truly amazing to see the difference in scale between a small winery vs a large-scale production. Lunch was at a neighborhood restaurant that was off the beaten path. We had a wonderful meal, sampling some of the local foods and wines that many from the wine industry go to. From there, we went to our third winery with breathtaking views of Douro Valley. It was a wonderful finish to the day before we headed back to our hotel (and I definitely snoozed off during the ride home). We would absolutely call Joao the next time we plan a trip to Portugal's Douro Valley to leave the driving to him, take us to wineries that wouldn't have been on our radar, and engage in great conversations.

Perfect experience in duoro valley - The day was amazing. Diogo was superb. Fun knowledgeable, adjusted based on what we liked. If I had any advice - if you know you aren’t a fan of port, the wine is superb - ask for only wineries, and skip the port house.

He worked with us to curate a lovely experience and we are so incredibly pleased with how he provided us a day we won't forget. The wine tastings were excellent, the views from the wineries were beyond amazing, and the owners we met were so incredibly gracious. Joao made our day and we felt so special with all the details he ensured were just right, including an exceptional lunch paired with an excellent white wine. We hope others won't hesitate to book a tour with him because it is so obvious how dedicated he is to providing a once in a lifetime experience. Joao is so knowledgeable, professional and kind!

You can tell that he truly cares about the area, its history, and its people. Beautiful scenery, delicious lunch, and world-class wine--all in the most idyllic setting imaginable.
