What an adventurous, fun, breath-taking trip! - The Geres nationalpark is an absolutely stunning beautiful place. Nowhere in Portugal I have felt more in unison with the nature. Pedro is a young, fun guide that will tell you a lot about the nationalpark and its history as well as the people that live there today. The first part of the route is easy to handle for everyone. You will reach some natural lagoons in which you can go swimming, an absolute recommendation! After that, Pedro lets the group decide whether to take back the same route or to try a harder path. It's also possible to split up if some of the group want to stay longer at the lagoons. As for the harder route: This one is a bit tricky. Good shoes are recommended, it is sometimes a bit steep and rocky. Good fitness is required. But it's at no time dangerous and Pedro helps out whenever needed. He is also prepared for those who get car sick or for small injuries. The communication with him was quick and uncomplicated. I'd book a tour with him anytime again!

Fun and Interesting hike - It was a lovely hike and Pedro is an excellent guide with lots of knowledge of the park and the local area. He pointed out key sights and gave us a lot of information about the local people, the water system and the agriculture within the park.

Perfect hike and caring guide Pedro - The hike was wonderful and Pedro is a perfect and thoughtful guide! We took an easy hike to the lagoons, where we took a break for lunch and swimming, then made a group decision to take a more difficult route back. Most of the group took it easily, it was manageable even for the kids. I was struggling a bit in the end of the group, but Pedro made sure we made enough breaks to rest. And taking this route was for sure worth it, as the views were even better. I am wondering though if it's better to start off with the steeper route, leaving the lagoons and the easy part for the second half of the day. The whole route was about 10 km, with a break at the lagoons for about 1-1.5 hour (if I remember it correct). P.S. the road to the park is curvy, so if you have motion sickness, I would definitely suggest taking a pill beforehand. I didn't expect the road to be so winding, but luckily for me, our caring guide Pedro offered pills for motion sickness, which helped a lot.

A great day, an actual hike, a lovely guide - We took the tour with Pedro on a very hot day, so that might influence my review ;) we had a great time but some things we didn’t know from the description or reviews, so here it goes for a better understanding of the tour 😊 apparently, Pedro changes it up a bit in different seasons etc. First up, Pedro is one of the most attentive tour guides out there and really loves the area, the national park and the people there. It was great having him as a guide! The transfer is 2h of driving time each way with two stops each way (one scenic, and one the cafe/refueling). Our group was quite chill and had no appointments (which Pedro asked about beforehand) and so somehow the tour ended up being way longer, and we got back at 10.30pm, with Pedro dropping people off close to their lodgings. The first half of the tour is very basic hiking with not much elevation and a nice view, before you get to the waterfalls and pools where you can take a break and swim (that’s about 2h of walking with pauses for interesting info about the area). The water is pretty cold, which was great on the hot day! After that, Pedro asks the group if they want to go back the same way or continue on and loop around another mountain. (I think he said, the group could also split up with people going back the easy way on their own). If you choose the loop, is where the going gets tough, there are multiple pretty steep parts with a big incline at the end. It’s no joke if you’re not fit. But the most annoying part was the thorns that people have mentioned before, it’s different kinds but one that comes up often for example is blackberry bushes, so it does scratch you up good/will rip less sturdy clothing. There is another lagoon/pool situation on that route and the vistas are a bit different, so my friends and I are divided on if that makes the second half worth it. The second half was around 2.5h of hiking, plus the second break. Sadly, we didn’t see any of the animals that could’ve been there but that’s nature! The fauna is pretty interesting with a lot of rock formations and ferns with a lot of cute little flowers. You get pretty scenic views as you’re high up from the beginning. So, all in all: - expect an actual hike if you do the big loop. - wear long, sturdy pants bc of the thorns - definitely wear at least sneakers with some grip - bring a water bottle - there are a few spots to refill them with mountain spring water, which is awesome! - And pack enough snacks and food for a really long day

Other than the city view - It was an unforgettable national park trip! Pedro was a professional guide who was extremely helpful and patient throughout the journey and cared for everyone's needs. I made it even without proper shoes and strong knees. My husband and I were lucky to have friendly group members, and the scenery and the history were lovely.

A truly hidden gem - The Peneda-Geres National Park is a truly hidden gem, without a formal entrance and ranger station like in the US, hence going with a guide was necessary. We enjoyed the scenery, flora, and local history, we enjoyed hiking to the water fall and walking around in the villages. Our guide Pedro was great. He was very considerate and speaks very good English. We were so glad that we were able to spend a quiet day in the nature in Portugal. This was an impressive day trip.

Visit cancelled and without refund - Pedro cancelled the departure a day early, leaving us with no opportunity to access other alternatives. Besides, I didn't get refunded.
