Amazing Experience with Great Wine and Views - We had an amazing trip to the Douro Valley. We traveled with my mother (74) and two daughters in early 20s and their college friends. Joao was extremely knowledgeable of the area which was gorgeous. We then went to a fabulous winery for wine and olive oil and had a delicious lunch. I was pleased they customized the tour so we could get back to Porto on time for my daughters.

Terrific experience with a superb guide - Our recent tour of the Duoro Valley and its wineries and vineyard was a highlight of our trip to Portugal. Joao, the tour guide, is exceptionally well-versed in all aspects of wine and winemaking and did a phenomenal job of selecting interesting wineries and a superb restaurant for our lunch. This tour, and Joao, provided a 5 star experience for our family that we will never forget. We have already recommended this tour to others as we thought so highly of it. Well worth the money.

A must excursion, simply THE BEST. - This is the BEST wine-tasting tour anywhere in the world. From the moment impeccably dressed João picked us up in his luxurious van we knew we were in excellent hands. João is a skillful professional with a deep love for the Douro Valley and for the craft of wine. He is very knowledgeable about so many topics and the 8 hours spent in his company was delightful and rewarding. Our expectations were exceeded beyond anything we could have anticipated. The most superlatives are deserving of this excellent experience and I can only say that it was definitely the highlight of this trip in every respect….the vineyards visited, the extraordinary lunch and the views and travelogue …..all were in the rarefied atmosphere of being called unforgettable. The best possible way to tour the Douro WIne Valley! - We were so lucky that Joāo was available to give us a private Douro Valley Wine Tour during the days that we were in Porto. Joāo is the son of Sara, who owns the family-owned Oporto & Douro Moments touring business, and he is every bit as professional and knowledgeable, talented, kind and fun as his amazing mother. Joāo is a fantastic driver and took us deep into the Douro Valley, where we immersed in the exquisite landscapes, took photos at mesmerizing viewpoints, tasted the best Douro wines and toured charming wineries and learned so much about their ancient and modern wine-making methods. The lunch we had was a gastronomic experience beyond compare. This was one of the best and most memorable days imaginable -- thanks to Joāo! As sad as we will be to leave Porto and the Douro Valley behind and return home, we are now excited to taste all of the delicious port wine we ordered!

Amazing experience - Our tour was AMAZING- highly recommend. A private tour for me & my boyfriend was what we wanted and this entire day was perfectly curated. João was super knowledgeable and great to spend the day with. They easily accommodated my food allergy for lunch too. Loved supporting this mother/son family-run business too.

Good option to get to know a little of the Douro in comfort and safety - Excellent tour! Rui was our driver and guide, very polite, friendly and professional. We stopped in a nice village near Sabrosa, then quickly in Pinhão to see the beautiful view of the Douro, and continued on to Quinta do Tedo, smaller and less known, but I had the best port wine on the trip. We had lunch at Quinta da Pacheca, a beautiful place, excellent food and beautiful tastings. The trip was so worth it.

Fantastic tour. Best guide ever! - We have traveled to dozens of countries from Asia, to Europe and the Americas over the last 40 years and have had many guides on those trips of all abilities and qualities. Oporto & Douro Moments stands out as unquestionably one of the best we have ever experienced. The professionalism of the organization was top notch and more importantly the quality of Joao, their guide and the breadth and depth of the tour itself was exceptional. Joao picked us up in Oporto and spent the day with us driving through the Douro Valley. We visited vineyards, wineries, towns, villages, a wonderful restaurant and the mountain tops. His knowledge of Portuguese history was extensive and nuanced and his knowledge of the current state of his country was equally impressive as was his knowledge of Portuguese wines which he was able to put in the context of other European wines of different eras. He was articulate and described his subjects with great forethought. His depth and breadth of knowledge was most impressive as was his engaging manner. Frankly we would recommend Joao and his team without reservation for any thoughtful people who seek to learn and understand this wonderful country and region.

Breathtaking views and wonderful food and wine tour - Wonderful Day in the Douro Valley! Our tour guide, Joao, was a pleasure to spend the day with. He catered to our every wish, providing a tailor-made tour of the Douro Valley. He is extremely knowledgeable about the wine making process and took us for several delicious tastings of wine, port, and Olive oil. He also arranged for an scrumptious lunch with wine pairing at a fantastic restaurant. The scenery was breathtaking, and we enjoyed it even more on a short cruise on the Douro River.
