Santiago is a favorite place among Catholic pilgrims globally as it’s home to the renowned Santiago Cathedral (1075 – 1128), where the apostle Santiago’s remains reside. The city of Santiago, the capital of Galiza in Spain, attracts many visitors because of its UNESCO recognized Routes to Santiago, a significant pilgrimage path in the Iberian Peninsula. Our itinerary includes a morning visit to the cathedral followed by an afternoon exploration of Santiago’s medieval cityscape. We will stroll through the quaint streets, uncovering its hidden gems. We also plan to visit Valença do Minho, a city on the northernmost border of Portugal. Our tour there will focus on the city’s fortification, which dates back to the twelfth century and has visible reconstruction from the eighteenth century. Here, one can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city, the Minho river which acts as a natural border, and the Spanish side.
