Highlights
  • Porto City Hall - This is where we start the walking tour at the top of Aliados.
  • Avenida Dos Aliados - We descend Aliados, Porto’s largest avenue.
  • Livraria Lello - Known for its long queues, Livraria Lello is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. The entrance is paid and the waiting time extensive so we do not enter this space.
  • Igreja do Carmo - Right next to the narrowest house in Porto, this church stands side by side with the Igreja dos Carmelitas.
  • Edificio da Reitoria da Universidade do Porto - Porto’s university life is vibrant and we have plenty to share about urban legends, centenary cafes and strange rituals.
  • Jardim de Joao Chagas - Commonly known as the Jardim da Cordoaria, this haunting garden is a special place to Porto’s inhabitants.
  • Centro Portugues de Fotografia - The Portuguese Photography Centre is located in the former Porto prison and now houses a large part of the country’s photographic heritage. We will not go inside it during our tour.
  • Torre dos Clerigos - Nasoni’s creation stands above everything else in the city and it’s probably Porto’s most photographed monument next to the bridge.
  • Miradouro da Vitoria - Located in the old jewish quarters, the Vitória viewpoint has one of the most beautiful views to the city.
  • Rua das Flores - One of Porto’s most charismatic streets, Rua das Flores was once known for its jewellery shops.
  • Sao Bento Railway Station - One of the most beautiful train stations in the world.
  • Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral) - The place where Porto begun to exist, at the top of Morro da Pena Ventosa, the cathedral holds many stories and anecdotes to share. We will not go inside the cathedral.
  • Ponte de Dom Luis I - We will mention this beautiful bridge from afar when the opportunity comes.

Great overview walking tour of historical Porto - The guide Joa gave a nice background of the sites we were visiting. Nice walking pace as he provided a bit of history to what we were seeing. Good overview of Porto and suggestions on what we can do on our own.

Met all expectations - We are a family with two kids (9 and 11) and we all truly enjoyed the tour with Diogo. It was the perfect mix of history, culture, and tips for traveling in Porto. Diogo was great; so animated, passionate, and speaks perfect English. Nice size group. Not too big that you feel like you are in a herd of sheep. Very much recommend for your first day in the city to get introduced to some of the highlights.

Tour to savor Porto at its best - Tour in Italian from the town hall to the cathedral with our guide Sara who told us "about everything and more" but above all she conveyed to us her passion for the city of Porto. Seeing it with his own eyes was beautiful! Perfect organisation, we will return and happily do the other itineraries too

Relax day - Our experience has been very rewarding and not only because of the Free tour where we have seen part of the city of Porto, but also because of all the information that Almudena, our guide, has given us (restaurants, wineries...) By the way, we have eaten in one of them and out of 10. Thank you Almudena out of 10

Tour with Marta - We took the tour with Marta in the late afternoon. It was obvious that he had a lot of information about the city, the only drawback was that he spoke extremely fast and sometimes he lost a lot of information along the way. The tour is still quite complete.
