Discovering the Tagus Estuary: A Family Adventure

Our journey to the Tagus Estuary began with a short drive from Lisbon, a city that never ceases to amaze me with its blend of history and modernity. As a family, we are always on the lookout for experiences that combine education with fun, and the Tagus Estuary promised just that. With over 250 bird species calling the estuary home, we were treated to the sight of elegant Greater Flamingos, majestic Bonelli’s Eagles, and the elusive Bluethroat. The strategically placed photography shelters and camouflaged observation points allowed us to capture some stunning photographs, which the kids were eager to share with their friends back home.

The Interpretation Centre at EVOA was another highlight, offering interactive exhibits that educated us about the importance of wetlands and the role they play in maintaining ecological balance. It was a wonderful way to engage the kids and help them understand the significance of preserving such natural habitats.
