A good full on one day introduction to the whole island of Madeira - If you want a one day introduction to the island of Madeira then you won’t get better than this. It is a full day with quite a bit of travelling but you do see the main sights and you have time for lunch at the coast. Good guide/driver have us lots of interesting history.

EXCELLENT Tour of the Entire Island of Madeira - This was a truly amazing tour of the ENTIRE coastline of the island of Madeira. There were countless places where we stopped, including many more than those listed in the Viator itinerary. You will stop at almost all photo viewpoints along the way, and you will have sufficient time to take pictures wherever you stop. However, what made this tour super special was our driver and tour guide RUI. He is a life-long native of this island and he knows all of the wonderful places to see and stop to visit to take pictures. Additionally, when it was lunch time, he gave us a choice and then took us to the most spectacular restaurant and site to have lunch- with a million dollar view. The food was top notch and truly delicious. RIU was not only very informative (by the way, he is a professionally trained engineer), his English was perfect and his demeanor was delightful. Please know that from the time that we were picked up y RUI at the hotel in Funchal to the time that we were dropped off in the evening, it was 11 hours. (No kidding!) So, you will get your money's worth and get to see truly all of the wonderful sites around the entire Madeira island - what most visitors to Madeira will not get to see. If you do book this tour, I do hope that you are lucky enough to get RUI as your driver and guide. You will have a wonderful time!

Amazing island tour - We enjoyed the full day tour a lot. Our driver took us to many beautiful view points around the island. He was a great driver, and had a lot of skill navigating the curvy mountain roads. He suggested a special stop for lunch with a beautiful view in Santana, which was less touristy. The sea pools were very fun to see. If you want to swim I suggest saving time for this spot and bringing along a swim suit and towel. The views around the island are gorgeous and you feel like you are seeing everything from the east to the west coast!

Great way to see the island - Our guide was really wonderful. We went in a sprinter style van but there were only 3 of us total. You get to venture on your own quite a bit and see the whole island

Great tour for small groups - The tour was really wonderful! We left Funchal around 8:45 and returned at 18.15. It was a day full of activities, we had many stops along the way and there was enough time to see them all, visit, take pictures, have a snack. Francisco was a wonderful guide, he told us a lot of stories about the places we were visiting and was flexible with the timing if we wanted to stay in one place a bit more than in another.

Great way to see Madeira in a day. - Getting to see so much of the island. The trip is about 10 hours, but didn't feel too long. There are lots of stops and drinks and snacks included.

A full interesting day but more info required - The driver was the tour guide, that said, the guide’s English was very rudimentary; also it would have been good if he had provided more historical facts, context and information about the places we were visiting.

Disgraceful driving, worse vehicle that ruined the day. - Well, disappointing and would not recommend for the following reasons. All reviews stated friendly knowledgeable guides, English speaking, nice vehicles. Well, vehicle was an Old Ford transit which had a broken handle and not fit for purpose. Driver was polite but his driving left a lot to be desired, driving too close to inexperienced drivers on the road on high winding roads where he then kept having to break suddenly, beeping a pedestrian who was already using a crossing for no reason. Then looking and reading notes off a piece of paper whilst on these roads. Disgrace, unsafe and do not use. The above was also stated by the French couple on our horrible transport .. really feel ripped off due to what you pay..

Average Tour - I am not sure if I liked or disliked this tour. It is long drives and yes some of very nice landscapes and views however we go through a lot of tunnels . Our driver was a very nice friendly person, however the vehicle was not in best condition in fact when he picked me up the car broke and battery was dead and we had to wait for 2 hrs from 8:30 am till 10:30 am till they brought another car which also wasn’t the best and AC wasn’t good so we had to keep the windows open and Madeira can be quite warm and hot. Due to the 2 hrs delay we had to rush things up and had to skip some stops and didn’t have enough time to enjoy the stops and scenery and since we were late some stops were already over crowded such as natural pools and the last stop was almost closing which had only 5 minutes for closure . I would suggest if you have time to split tours of the island east and west separate if you have time and spend more time in Funchal as it’s more interesting as a city.
