Great trip and excellent guide. - Excellent day trip with Maria. Learnt a lot about the area, the trees and flowers. Walk was lovely and not rushed. Small group of 8 and arrived ahead of the crowds. Great trip to do and great driver George.

Fantastic trip - great way to experience the Lavadas - Fantastic trip with a great guide - learnt so much about everything Madeiran! He really looked after us end to end. Lovely way to experience the Lavadas. I’m not great with heights so was a little nervous, but coped with this no problem. Morning and afternoon comfort break worked well too. Will definitely book with this company/ guide again - thank you!

Very nice hike - Very nice tour, with many waterfalls, up stairs, one of the most popular tours, so there was also quite a lot going on on the trails. Still highly recommended. And we had a lot of fun with our friendly and sympathetic tour guide.

Fun walk to waterfall - I recommend Madeira Free Spirit walks. It was a nice half-day trip to 25 fonts and Alvaro was a very knowledgaeble and funny guide.

Definitely Recommend - Out of all the tours I went on during my trip, Alvaro was by far the best tour guide. The walk was challenging at times (with steep inclines, declines and stairs), a little scary (w/ parts of the trail being near the edge), and so much fun! My favorite part was walking through the dark tunnel as well as Alvaro pointing out different plants and birds. He’s also very funny which is great! I’d recommend wearing hiking boots that cover your ankles, as there are some puddles along the way (esp in the tunnel).

Another great walk with Madeira free spirits - Had another great walk with Alvaro from Madeira free spirit. He was funny and so knowledgeable about his country. Although it rained all day and visibility was limited we still enjoyed ourselves. Footing was a bit slippy underneath with a lot of steep steps up and down but we took our time on those parts. Stopped at 2 lovely cafes before and after walk

Rabacal levada walk - Rabacal trip with madreia free spirit walks.picked up once again on time and our driver george and guide for the day Maria took us to a brief toilet and coffee stop on route to the start of the walk.maria explained with knowledge the area and indigenous plants etc along the way. This walk took you firstly mainly downhill to the levada then along to a waterfall prior to the 25 fontes waterfall itself. Now I have to say this is a VERY VERY popular place and at times almost TOO busy the 25 fonts itself was extremely busy.now what goes down must go up! So the return leg you had to climb a fair few steps so I'd say a good general fitness level is best.(oh beware low trees it claimed a few heads ha ha it pays to look up where you are walking ) The way back led through an 800 metre tunnel so take a torch or reserve enough camera battery .this tunnel is not small at all but cold and in places wet so waterproof footwear is common sense tbh. Once out of the tunnel a small downhill walk where our driver george awaited. Overall a good walk but almost too popular ( yes we did contribute to that!) On return there was a brief stop for toilet and drinks.great day out I'd recommend this company

Excellent walk, guide & company - We did the 25 Fontes walk with Alvarro as guide. He was very knowledgeable but amusing as we walked, but keen also forbid us to be safe. The walk had stunning scenery and though 4 hours long, not overly strenuous. Thoroughly recommend the walk as well as the guide/company

Great walk - From start to finish an excellent trip. Alvaro was knowledgeable about the history of levadas and about plant life. The walk was paced to the slowest walker. Walking poles were offered at the start of the trip. There are a number of steps to negotiate. These can be tricky because they vary in height. Also beware of trip hazards, lumps of rock and tree roots plus mind your head in some sections. Around 4 hours was allocated for the 11km trip. Stops were built in along the way to admire the views and waterfalls. Overall excellent.
