Setting Sail on the QM2

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I made my way to the Flamingo Marina in Potrero. The salty breeze carried the promise of a day filled with adventure and the thrill of the catch. As a professional surfer, I’ve spent countless hours riding the waves, but this time, I was trading my surfboard for a fishing rod. The Fishing Adventure was calling my name, and I was eager to answer.

The QM2, a 23ft fishing boat, awaited us at the dock. With its sleek design and powerful 150HP outboard Mercury Verado engine, it was clear that this vessel was built for both speed and comfort. Our captain, a seasoned fisherman with decades of experience, welcomed us aboard with a warm smile and a promise of a memorable day on the water. As we set sail, the excitement was palpable, and I couldn’t wait to see what the ocean had in store for us.

The Thrill of the Catch

As we ventured further from the shore, the captain shared his knowledge of the local waters, pointing out the best spots to find Marlin, Mahi Mahi, and Yellowfin Tuna. With the sun shining down and the waves gently rocking the boat, I felt a sense of peace and anticipation. The ocean has always been my playground, and today, it was offering a new kind of challenge.

The first catch of the day was a feisty Tuna, its silver scales glistening in the sunlight as it fought against the line. The thrill of reeling it in was unlike anything I’d experienced before. As the day went on, we caught a variety of fish, from Mackerel to Bonita, each one adding to the excitement and camaraderie on board. The captain’s expertise was evident as he guided us through different fishing techniques, from trolling to jigging, ensuring that everyone had a chance to experience the joy of the catch.

A Feast to Remember

After a successful day of fishing, the captain expertly filleted our catch, and we headed back to shore with a cooler full of fresh fish. The Flamingo Marina, with its array of shops and restaurants, was the perfect place to end our adventure. We found a cozy spot where the chef prepared our catch for lunch, turning our hard-earned fish into a delicious feast.

As I savored each bite, I couldn’t help but reflect on the day’s events.
