Highlights
  • Obeliskportal - If you couldn’t travel to Egypt, you brought Egypt to Europe. But not in the form of a real obelisk by ship, like Napoleon once did to Paris, but by making your own obelisks by hand in the Brandenburg region. Provided with a few hieroglyphs, the main entrance portal to Sanssouci Park made from it looks deceptively real - it’s just stupid that nobody can read the fantasy characters.

Additional Information

The unique aspect of this tour is that you will be driven in your own lavish vehicle by a guide who has resided in Berlin for more than two decades. A personal approach, ample information, and fascinating stories are assured! Additionally, you have the flexibility to customize the tour based on your interests, deciding where to stop or skip. This flexibility sets it apart from traditional bus tours. Besides, this tour also offers you a chance to view Sanssouci and the city center, instead of just a small portion of the park, which is typically the case with other tours. You can choose whether to explore Sanssouci Palace (optional) or admire other attractions like the New Palace, the Chinese House, or Charlottenhof Palace as you walk through the park (visits can be arranged). Following a brief ride, you can leisurely walk the Dutch quarter and refresh at a charming café at Nauener Tor. We then drive past the remaining landmarks on our return to Berlin.

  • Baby car seat (MaxiCosy) available on request
  • Stroller: The cradle must be removable and the frame foldable. Calculate reduced space for additional suitcases!
  • Wheelchair-accessible means: The guest can slide onto a seat in the car with help (middle to high seating position). The foldable wheelchair can be transported in the rear. Attention, note the luggage restrictions on welcome/farewell tours (only 3 medium-sized suitcases plus a foldable wheelchair possible)
  • Companion animals: using dogs as an example: up to medium-sized dogs can lie on the floor in the rear, large ones only in the back (caution, then no luggage possible there because of the risk of accidents). According to the Taxi Act, seating areas are taboo for animals unless they are in a suitable transport box (e.g. cats).

The history of Berlin and Potsdam brought to life! - our tour guide kept us informed of his actual pick-up time from our hotel and arrived promptly in a clean vehicle. Gunter made us aware of how Berlin was before and after its’ division through architecture and town planning. Potsdam is a uniquely historical area and we were totally engaged in our guide’s knowledge of the many Williams and Fredericks and,of course, the many marvellous vistas to photograph. Gunter is an enthusiastic and knowledgable guide and his energy level never flagged. Recommended as a immersive tour of the Prussian dynasty

Top Tour with Gunter - We enjoyed the whole day with Gunter, seeing all these palaces and beautiful gardens. Gunter has an enormous knowledge about Prussien history and kings and their families. So we followed their traces with tea houses, grottos and uncountable sculptures. Gunter even explained why skme of them more naked than overs. After that we had lunchvin an Austrian style café in Potsdam city. We tried a very good Currywurst. Finally we went to the Potsdam Conference palace, more an English landscape manor house. Completely different to the rococo palaces before, and a different time of German history. In total a really recommedable tour! Go for it!

A perfect day in Potsdam & Sanssouci! - Gunter is an extremely competent and warm-hearted tour guide. On the way there, he told us a lot about the history of Berlin and Potsdam. You drive on the motorway over the former border at Dreilinden and back over the Spy Bridge at Glienicke Castle. After we had parked close to the castle, we first enjoyed the view from the historic mill. Then the castle itself was on the agenda, with the castle kitchen and picture gallery. Then we walked down the vineyard to the fountain. Gunter took lots of pictures of us, which he later shared with us in an online album. On a short tour of the park, we also looked at the Chinese House and later the Orangery Palace. Always decorated with explanations or little anecdotes from Gunter, sometimes also private family experiences in what was then the East. For example, the old stone oven and the wine cellar. We continued by car, past the New Palace into the historic old town. There we saw the city palace, which had been rebuilt as a parliament, as well as the old gates and the pretty baroque houses. Luckily, you can drive through almost anywhere by taxi. Finally, we had coffee and cake in Café Heider in the Dutch Quarter. From there, we went to Cecilienhof Palace in the New Garden. The famous Potsdam Conference of the victorious powers took place there in 1945 after the end of the war. The exhibition in the English-style palace commemorates this. Here, too, the Wall ran directly behind it. From the dairy, you could see all the way to West Berlin to the telephone connection tower. Here, too, Gunter answered all of our questions with his incredible knowledge. Finally, we went back over the Glienicke Bridge, with a view of Babelsberg Palace. We drove past Wannsee and across Berlin on the B1 back to our accommodation. All in all, a perfect day with lots of history to touch and marvel at. I would recommend it to everyone!

A perfect day, we enjoyed every minute! - It was a fantastic day. First we ge picked up from our private accommodation inside Berlin. Then Gunter took us over the highway to Potsdam. In this time he told us a lot about history and the border situation towards Potsdam, situated in former East Germany, region Brandenburg. Heading over to the city of Potsdam, we first got a parking and visited the small Palace of Frederic on the vineyard. If you like rococo artwork, you will be overwhelmed. Everything looks special and fantastic, and we got audioguides for the tour inside. But Gunter accompaigned us and took photos (he handed over later by a link to an online album). Then we saw the old kitchen, wine cellar and later the beautiful picture gallery. Frederic got an amazing collection, including the popular picture from Caravaggio. Then we have visited the old grave of Frederic, next to his dogs, with some potatoes on it. Of course Gunter explained, why. We walked down the vineyard to the big fountain. Again we got photographed from Gunter (in total it has been almost 100 pictures!). Seeing on a scenic path the meadows and landscape garden, always with some interesting views towards other palaces, mills, and grottos. We visitier afterwards the Chinese House, which is also very special, with its fantasy about Chinoise fashion. We finished our walking trail with a visit of the huge Orangerie palace on the mountain. Just made to store the palms etc. in winter time. Picking up the car, we had a ride around the parc (even through it) to the so called huge New Palace. Built to "store" the family here, as Gunter told us. The a city tour, seeing these spectacular gates of the old fortification, the old canal, the reconstructed city palace as parliament for the region, and the fantastic, almost undestroyed beautiful Potsdam city center. Often Gunter have chosen roads not drivable with other cars, because they are blocked for normals cars. Advantage of using a real cab. Finally a stop in the dutch quarter for a visit of an old café in Austrian style. We had some really good curry wurst there and a black forest tart afterwards, with view on Nauener Gate. After this he took us with his car to the Cecili's Palace, the location of the Potsdam Conference in 1945, with Truman, Churchill and Stalin. Inside everything looks like at 1945. And it was again located in a nice landscape garden, next to a river/lake, and again to the border towards West-Berlin. In total, a perfect day, of almost 8 hours, we enjoyed every min!

Great tour, Great guide. - We loved our tour of Potsdam and Sanssouci Palace. We took the tour on our last day in Berlin in order to see some of the sights outside of the normal tourist zones. Gunter is a lot of fun and really knows the area. Potsdam and the palace were wonderful, and I really enjoyed the ride there and back getting to see the different neighborhoods.

Exceptional Tour of Potsdam with Gunter! - We booked a tour of Potsdam with Gunter. He picked us up at our hotel on time. As we drove out of Berlin he drove perfectly while giving us a non-stop description of many of the places we passed. We arrived in Potsdam and had a remarkable day. We walked through the New Palace, which was visually stunning, but cozy at the same time and had beautiful grounds. We walked through Sansoucci Park, went through the small but stunning Chinese House with life-sized gilded figures, and all around Sansoucci Palace. All the while Gunter told us interesting anecdotes about the history of the places we were seeing. We stopped at Cecilienhoff Country House and garden, which is where the Potsdam Conference took place with Truman, Churchill, and Stalin. Gunter also drove us through the charming Dutch Quarter where we stopped at Café Heider and had delicious coffee and Viennese cakes. Gunter is a walking encyclopedia (or for those of you who have never seen an encyclopedia, he’s like Wikipedia). He carries a huge amount of information in his head and shares it with you enthusiastically. If you want a tour filled with energy and running commentary so you can learn a lot, then Gunter is the guide for you. I highly recommend him!
