Set out on a cross island adventure to experience the energy, food, culture, and magic of La Parguera! After exploring the village, hop aboard our boat in the original Bioluminescent Bay. Navigating to the darkest area, you will be able to safely touch, see, and swim in the bioluminescence, or enjoy from the boat. This is without question, the best way to do the bay!
Touted by most as an “indescribable” experience, let the magic of the bioluminescence sparkle and dance in the water around you. Our captain will find the darkest, and most active location, to allow the best visibility and interaction!

Described by many as a sight that can’t be put into words, observe the water glisten and ripple when disturbed. Engulf yourself in the wilderness under a vibrant sky, miles away from the urban environment. No artificial lights or human-created effects, just the natural occurrence of bioluminescence calmly illuminating these safeguarded waters. With cameras unable to encapsulate this spectacle, it’s certainly an experience not to be missed!!
- Swimming is not mandatory. While it is an option that we highly advise you to take advantage of, no guest is required to swim if they are not comfortable to do so
- This is not a Kayak Tour. Guests will be transported via motor boat through the protected waters to the best location to see and swim in the bioluminescence
- Total time on the water is 45 minutes - 1 hour. Guests will be able to swim for 20 minutes
- Visibility of the bioluminescence will fluctuate with weather, currents, and the moon cycle.
- All guests pay regular rate regardless of age. The number of participants is monitored by the DRNA and is by seat, not age

- The Gina's Johnny's Boats check in Kiosk is located in the plaza right next to Restaurante El Karacol.
- We do recommend guests arriving early to enjoy the village at La Parguera and dinner!
- This activity takes place in La Parguera which is about a 2 hour drive from the San Juan Area

Once in a lifetime experience! - INCREDIBLE! Out of the three bio bays in Puerto Rico, I would come here again because getting to swim in the water was so much cooler than if we were just kayaking.

Great Experience - Great Experience, even with half the moon out we still saw a lot of bioluminescence. The tour guide was nice and we had about 15 minutes to swim we seemed like the right amount, though I could’ve stayed for hours!

The Bio bay was the best... - The Bio bay was the best part of our trip to Puerto Rico. We were able to see the bioluminescence and it was truly magical… my daughters love it too. It’s too bad my phone camera couldn’t capture a good picture of this experience

Fun experience! - Our family had an amazing time on this excursion! A fun night boat ride and then swimming in the spectacular bioluminescence. No jellyfish, great temperature and absolutely perfect display of bioluminescence. Justin was a fun and friendly guide. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience - Highly recommend the experience! Nocturnal swimming in the Caribbean Sea with the Dinoflagellate while observing the Milky Way was astonishing.

Good experience but can improve it - Swiming was good, not punctual. The tour guy didn’t say anything about the bay, so people didn’t realize how unique it was. Buy in person! Way more cheaper than online. But it’s still a good experience

Great excursion - I would have given 5 stars great experience but they should have warned us bring bug spray. Well, you wait in line until the boat's and passengers are ready.. we were eaten alive well we waited. Boat Ride and swimming in the Bioluminescent was absolutely 💯 fantastic!!! They had life vests for the young children. Also if an adult needed one they were available. It's a must do...

Boat ride - Seeing the bio bay was an awesome sight. If you are expecting anything else from this trip, look elsewhere. There were about 15-20 people on the boat ride. The captain let anyone jump off boat once we anchored. They could swim for about 10 minutes. Only about 3 did it. We tried asking questions but there was little to no response from the captain. Don’t think he spoke English either. The best part was seeing the bioluminescent bay (which was a once in lifetime experience) and we did put our hands in and swirled the water. Otherwise was a pricey boat ride. Explore the town after your ride because that was really fun.
