Additional Information

This half-day guided journey will lead you to the historically rich, medieval era town of Kutna Hora, a location recognized and protected by UNESCO’s World Cultural and Natural Heritage. Nestled approximately 37 miles (60 km) to the east of Prague, the visually striking town of Kutna Hora owes its beauty and wealth to the extensive silver mining operations of the 14th and 15th centuries, which once positioned the town as a rival to Prague in terms of significance.
Throughout this adventure, you’ll be able to marvel at striking sites such as the distinctive Gothic Cathedral of St. Barbara, dedicated to the miner’s patron saint. You’ll get to visit Hrádek, a site that ties directly to the mining history of the town, and the Italian Court (Vlašský dvůr), a significant former royal mint that previously manufactured Prague grosch. Also included in the tour is the Gothic fountain and the admission fees for St. Barbara and Sedlec Ossuary.

Worth the Visit - Quite interesting to see the Bone Church. The guide was very informative. The last stop at a cafe was quite enjoyable.

Creepy bones and great architecture - We were picked up promptly at our accommodation by Phillip and our guide Giulia took us to Kutna Hora. We were briefed with lots of interesting history of both Prague and Kutna Hora along the way. We visited the Sedlec Ossary, fascinating and a bit creepy use of bones in a creative manner. Then on to town to St Barbara’s Cathedral, really imposing . Lots of photo opps and ample time for looking around to appreciate the architecture in this appealing old town. Worth a visit and thanks to Giulia.

Kunta Hora 2023 - We did the tour in august 2023, all the reviews said it was this amazing place and don’t get me wrong the landscape and the architecture was beautiful , however the bone church was exactly as the name “ a church of bones” very small and that’s it. We then took a bus to the other side of town of Kunta Hora, got to see the churches and an over view of the city. It was beautiful however as something that is highly rated it was a little underwhelming.

Lovely guide. Not enough time at the Bone Church. - Our guide was lovely and very friendly. I was disappointed that traffic impacted the amount of time we were able to spend at the Bone ossuary. In total, we maybe had 15 minutes. This was the main reason we booked the tour so a 7 hour tour for 15 minutes in the ossuary was pretty disappointing. I was also disappointed to learn that photos were not permitted inside the ossuary. Again, though. Our guide was wonderful and did everything in her power to make it a good experience for everyone, including speaking in multiple languages, making bathroom and snack stops when necessary, and just being a very kind and enthusiastic person overall.

Poor - I was disappointed in this tour.Czech was the third country we visited on this vacation. We have taken a tour each day and I have rated them all a 4 or 5. This tour was in English. Our guide had such heavily accented English and spoke so fast I could hardly understand him and English is my only language. There were many people on our trip who could understand English but it was not their first language - they would have gotten nothing from the trip. When people did ask questions he was aloof and dismissive so people stopped asking. No where on our tour did it say anything about having 1 hour to stop for lunch on our own so we ate prior. Overall not a great experience, a wasted day in Czech

Disappointing - The tour bus air-con was not working properly (It was 30+ degrees!) So when we got stuck in traffic (not the tours fault, obvs) it was unbearable! Then we spent longer in the gas station on the way than we did in the bone church, which was the whole reason for our trip. The tour guide was knowledgeable but unfortunately her English was not as good as we hoped (definitely way better than my Czech, but I'm not giving tours!), and after telling us to get back on the bus no later than 20 mins later, she strolled up 15 mins later than that! (And she decided to go to the back of the bus and have a nap at one point). Overall, the trip was not enjoyable, the heat played a big part but an air-conditioned bus would have stopped that being such an issue. I wouldn't use this tour again unfortunately.

The Teacher from the Peanuts and the worlds smelliest bus: a hellscape - While the price is much cheaper than others, and convenient for the guaranteed transport, there’s a reason for that. Your transport is a sprinter van, modified with rather slim and hard seats, to sit 20-25 people. There’s very little AC, so if your tour has teens with strong BO, you’ll be choking on that stage miasma for two hours both way, as they never crack a window or turn the AC up to actually be effective. Then, once at the tour, you find it’s not just Kutna Hora, but three cathedrals, so you only get about 30-40 minutes in each place, but your guide will spend at least 25-30 proselytizing all of the religious lore. I know the point of the tour is information, but I don’t need every year it was build and every person involved, because consistently it left us with 5-8 minutes to actually look around and take pictures, because she would always lecture at us from one spot. There’s no room for dilly dallying or getting a drink, taking your own pictures styled how you’d like: it’s like a teacher expects you to move along and listen. THEN, after all of these, you get to the square of Kutna Hora about five hours in. The guide will spend so much time showing you relics you did not ask for, that you’ll be left 30 minutes to find a place to eat with a restroom, because she won’t have one nearby or point one out. But you better finish all the food, because none is allowed on the bus. It’s a cute little town, with great shops and interesting views, and you spent over an hour getting there. Time to enjoy it would’ve been nice without the droning of the unenthused guide. Then, you get back on the bus thinking, okay, we did the tour, she’ll let us sleep. There can’t possibly be more to talk about. No, she’ll continue to drown about the Prague suburbs and how the city has changed for an hour and a half, in the hot bus, stinking of BO where you choke on the stale, smelly air. The ease of transport was good and convenient, but this guide needs to shorten her spiel by about 30% to the interesting and necessary information. It’s a tour for adults, not children, and the herding around with little time to enjoy and make it your own experience is very annoying. Really, in six hours, you couldn’t find the time to stop talking, or really let people enjoy the location? Stop it. Insanely enough, she even prefaced the tour with time to drink/eat and use the restroom wasn’t guaranteed!! So if we’re bad, you just get to hold it for six hours? Please stop.

Don’t waste your time! - Wasn’t worth the time. No big deal. We asked for a tour in English. Our tour guide spoke very broken English was so hard to understand. She also didn’t have a lot of other information and was not able to answer questions.
