Following a one-hour drive to the east of Prague, you will reach the town of Kutna Hora, boasting immense architectural wealth stemming from the Middle Ages and built on a vast field of silver ore. Over the course of history, its role in the production of money symbolized the power and affluence of Czech monarchs and the kingdom as a whole. Your walk through the town’s historic centre will render it clear why it received recognition as a UNESCO World and Natural Heritage site. Inside, the Cathedral of St. Barbara, the miner’s patron saint, stands out as one of the most impressive examples of late Gothic architecture in Bohemia. The trip includes visits to the cathedral, the Bone Chapel, and the former Mint.
