Kutna Hora is a delightful medieval town located in Central Bohemia, just 70 km from Prague. As the second most significant town in the Bohemian kingdom after Prague, it experienced a prosperous period in the Middle Ages due to its renowned silver mines and royal support.
Today, this cultural and architectural treasure is among the most visited UNESCO sites in Czechia, featuring a charming town center adorned with stunning Gothic architecture, reminiscent of its affluent history. Upon arriving in Kutna Hora, visitors will explore three UNESCO heritage sites, starting with the splendid Gothic cathedral, the Church of St. Barbara, dedicated to the patron saint of miners.
Visitors will also explore a distinctive cemetery beneath the Church of All Saints: known as an Ossuary or bone crypt, the Sedlec Chapel is adorned with approximately 40,000 human bones. Afterwards, enjoy the medieval ambiance as you stroll along the cobbled streets towards the “Italian Court.”
Finally, savor a leisurely lunch before heading back to Prague.
