In the early fall of 1941, Acting Reich Protector SS-Obergruppenfuhrer Reinhard Heydrich instigated a reign of terror within the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Leaders of the Czechoslovakian foreign resistance in London retaliated by planning his assassination. As 1941 drew to a close, a team known as ANTHROPOID was deployed to the Protectorate with the mission of eliminating Heydrich. On May 27, 1942, Czechoslovak paratroopers Jan Kubis and Josef Gabcik executed this significant act of defiance during World War II. They eradicated a man who was not only detested as the killer of the Czech nation, but also the orchestrator of the Holocaust, the most monstrous scheme in human history.
The cost of admission to Panenske Brezany palace and the Lidice museum is covered.
