I recommend! Spectacular experience! - The place is a spectacle. The trail was peaceful even with melted ice (but I have experience on highly difficult trails). The road from Prague to there is beautiful. Our guide Michael was excellent. Very patient with me (who has very basic English). The mulled wine was wonderful. I highly recommend the company northern hikens. They gave me a lot of security. The typical lunch was delicious! And the trail snacks were great.

Fabulous winter wonderland! - When our guide and driver Lenka met us at our hotel for the pick up, we knew immediately that she would be one of the highlights of our day and not just the wonderful hike in the snow and beautiful scenery. She was warm and friendly, knowledgeable, a good driver, and clearly loved her work. We had a full complement of seven in our group. Three couples and one solo. All lovely people and one couple from the same city as us…Perth, Australia! The hike up to the Pravcicka Gate was worth the uphill effort (not too demanding at all really) and the views along the way stunning, despite the forest having been severely damaged by recent fires. We wore spikes and used hiking poles, and this we would recommend, as it is easy to slip on the snow and ice. Lenka provided these for those in our group who did not have their own. The downhill return hike was an opportunity to get to know each other a little more and then we settled for lunch in a warm and cosy traditional Czech restaurant. Pictured is the dish Lenka recommended we try and it did not disappoint. Succulent piece of beef in a creamy, slightly sweet vegetable sauce mopped up with tasty “dumplings”. I washed mine down with a frothy beer and my wife with a nice glass of white wine. We paid a tiny bit extra to try the apple strudel cake for desert and it was as expected…yum ! We then had an hours drive to the Bastei Bridge in Germany and it was again a spectacle to behold. A stone bridge constructed in the late 1800s that replaced the original wooden bridge from medieval times. After lots of photos, with Lenka acting as unofficial photographer it was soon dark and time for the drive back to Prague to our hotel. We got there at about 6.30 having set off from Prague at 8am that morning. A day filled with adventure, great company, beautiful scenery, lovely food and wonderful memories. Thank you Northern Hikes and especially Lenka for making our day so enjoyable (and safe). So well worth it!

Bastei bridge day trip - Cracking day out, Michal our guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and willing to explain in good English. Pick up from hotel in Prague was on time and a comfortable modern minivan trip to Bastei took about 1.5 hours. Bastei bridge was very scenic if a little high and Michael explained all about the castle very well. We then had a short drive back into Czechia for lunch and a beer at a lovely family restaurant before wandering up into the sandstone rock formation a short walk away. All in all thoroughly enjoyable.

A great day with Northern Hikes - We had a fabulous day of hiking with Lenka on April 7, 2023 which was all organized by Northern Hikes. Both Eva and Vitek were great in the planning of our trip, very responsive and detailed about what the hikes involved. We did the Pravcicka Gate, Tisa Rocks and The Bastei Bridge in that order. Our trip included a very good traditional lunch as well. The pick up from Prague was on time and in a very comfortable Van, Lenka brought along all kinds of snacks and drinks for us throughout the day. She has great knowledge about the area and an excellent sense of humor which all make for a great day. I would highly recommend Northern Hikes for your next adventure.

Unforgettable hiking experience in Czech - Our guide Pavla is a very caring and professional tour guide. One of my relatives was sick during the hike and she tried her best to arrange the seat in the car and offered her help.

Amazing experience and stunning views! - The location has stunning views and the hike is just right for a pleasant day trip from Prague. The sandstone structures created by nature are just magical. Our guide Marek was fun and full of stories and insights about the places visited. You can tell that he loves what he does and he transmits you his enthusiasm. Northern hikes also adapted to our needs very effectively, for instance in terms of getting picked up or left in our accommodation in Prague or near Hřensko. It was a pity that there was a fire in the area last summer, the damage is noticeable in some areas. But even so we had an interesting discussion about it, and the main highlights luckily remained unaffected. Highly recommended!
