- Strahov Monastery - Officially known as the Royal Canonry of Premonstratensians at Strahov, this is the oldest Premonstratensian monastery in Bohemia, founded in 1143. It stands as one of the Czech Republic’s most significant architectural landmarks. Restored after 1990, the monastery houses the Museum of National Literature, the renowned Strahov Library, and the Strahov Gallery.
The Strahov Library is among the most valuable and well-preserved historical libraries, not only in the Czech Republic. It holds over 200,000 books, including more than 3,000 manuscripts and 1,500 originals, stored in a special depository. The library features two main halls, the Theological Hall and the larger Philosophical Hall, connected by a corridor.
Additionally, the site is home to the second oldest documented brewery in the region.
- Strahov Stadium - The Great Strahov Stadium, also known as Masaryk Stadium, is considered by some to be the largest stadium in the world. It originally had a capacity of 280,000, with 96,000 seats. Since March 6, 2003, it has been recognized as a national cultural monument.
The stadium covers a total area of 63,000 m², equivalent to approximately nine football fields.
Initially constructed for the gymnastics festivals of the Sokol Movement, the stadium in 1926 consisted only of a sand exercise area, earthen banks, and wooden stands.
Over time, the stadium underwent several reconstructions and expansions. The west stands were added, and the entire complex was completed to accommodate national Spartakiades. At its peak, up to 33,000 gymnasts performed at Strahov.
The stadium has also hosted concerts by famous bands such as The Rolling Stones, Guns N’ Roses, and Pink Floyd.
- Park Ladronka - Ladronka is one of Prague’s most beloved homesteads. The surrounding park is designed for pedestrians, cyclists, and especially inline skaters, who can enjoy the longest illuminated track, stretching 4.2 km.
The park hosts various cultural events, including Ladronkafest, the largest festival in Central Europe, and Čarodějnice na Ladronce (The Witches in Ladronka).
Historically, the area featured a vineyard press, as vineyards surrounded the region per Charles IV’s wishes. In 1688, Italian Count Philipp Ferdinand de la Crone, whose name was simplified to Lacrone or Ladrone, purchased a large area near the village of Motol from Baron Schwihowski, giving rise to the homestead’s name.
- Břevnov Monastery - Břevnov Monastery, the oldest Czech monastery, is located in the Prague district of Břevnov. Founded in 993, the monastery, along with the Saint Margaret Basilica and the Margaret Garden, is protected as a national cultural monument. Visitors can explore the baroque Saint Margaret Basilica, an 11th-century Romanesque crypt, and a baroque prelature featuring the Terezian Hall. The monastery boasts the oldest beer brewing tradition in the Czech Republic, producing beer called Benedikt. Since 2017, this beer has also been brewed under the brand Praha 993 in South Korea, under the supervision of the monastery’s brewery technologists.
The monastery grounds include a large garden, featuring Vojtěška, an abbot’s summer house with a chapel above a natural spring, marking the monastery’s founding site. In the garden’s upper section, remnants of an 18th-century greenhouse can be found.
- Vila Kajetanka - Kajetánka is a Prague homestead located in Prague-Břevnov, originally a court and later a monastery. Currently, the deteriorating premises are undergoing extensive reconstruction into a housing estate.
The original court, complete with a vineyard, was owned by the House of Martinic. Bernard Ignác of Martinic constructed a smaller monastery building and donated it to the Order of Theatins, also known as Kajetans. The monastery included a cylindrical chapel and a small church modeled after the Bavarian Pilgrimage Church of the Virgin Mary in Altötting. Kajetánka was later transformed into a small château by its then-owner.
