- Convento de Cristo - When Tomar was conquered to the moors it was given to the Templar Order in 1159. Visit the medieval castle and the Convent of Christ inside the castle walls. The Convent features “Charola”, a round chapel from the 12th century which is a medieval art masterpiece. It also features a famous Manuelin (king Manuel I) architecture window from a later period. The whole complex is classified as World Heritage by UNESCO.
