Discovering the Hidden Gems of Presidente Figueiredo

Our family adventure to Presidente Figueiredo, often dubbed the “Waterfalls Paradise,” was nothing short of magical. As a travel writer who loves crafting family-friendly itineraries, I was eager to explore this Amazonian wonderland with my husband and two kids. The promise of over a hundred waterfalls, ancient rock formations, and the lush Amazon rainforest was too tempting to resist.

Our journey began with a scenic drive from Manaus, where we were greeted by our enthusiastic guide, Rodolpho, from Amazon Destination. Our first stop was the breathtaking Cachoeira de Iracema, a waterfall nestled deep in the heart of the jungle. The kids were thrilled to explore the surrounding caves and trails, and we all took a refreshing dip in the cool, cascading waters. A Day of Adventure and Discovery

As we continued our exploration, we visited the mesmerizing Sucuriju waterfall. Although swimming wasn’t possible due to the strong currents, the sight of the powerful falls was awe-inspiring. Lunch was a delightful affair at the Urubuí rapids, where we met the charming local, “Pavio,” who entertained us with his humorous tales. The kids loved splashing around in the shallow waters, and it was a joy to see them so carefree and happy. After lunch, we headed to Lagoa Cristalina, a natural spring that felt like a hidden paradise. The crystal-clear waters were perfect for a swim, and we relished every moment in this serene oasis.

Our day concluded with a visit to the red river, a shallow tributary surrounded by lush jungle. It was the perfect spot for a final swim before heading back to Manaus. The kids were exhausted but exhilarated, and we all agreed that this was a day we would cherish forever.

As we boarded the boat at David’s marina to cross the Black River, I couldn’t help but reflect on the unforgettable memories we had created as a family. The Amazon had cast its spell on us, and we left with a newfound appreciation for its beauty and diversity.
