Highlights
  • Pristina - After approximately 2 hours drive from Skopje, we will reach Pristina- the capital of Kosovo. Then we will start our walking tour of the city. During the walking tour, you will learn a lot about the modern history of this young country and the turbolances around its creation. Our guide will do his best to present the story as ojective as possible.
Our first stop will be the Pristina National Library, completed in 1982 when Kosovo was part of Yugoslavia. The library is keeping valuable books and documents some of which date to the 15th century. An interesting fact is that it is ranked at the top of the ugliest architectural structures in Europe. During our walk, we will pay attention to the statue of Mother Tereza. Due to her Albanian origin, she is a highly prized person in Kosovo. You will walk through the main pedestrian boulevard of the city and you enjoy the spirit of its center.

  • Prizren - After another hour and a half drive, you will reach the historical capital of Kosovo- Prizren. The town is surrounded by mountains and it is incredibly beautiful. There, you will learn about the history of the origin of Kosovo and the ideas behind it, supported by the Great Albania plan. You will see and visit monuments from the Ottoman Empire period.
Our first stop during the walking tour of Prizren will be Mehmet Pasha Hamam, built during the 16th century. The next site that we will visit is The Sinan Pasha Mosque built at the beginning of the 17th century. You will be able to take a look at the nice souvenir shops that surround the mosque.
Our next point of interest will be the fortress situated high above the city from where wonderful views will be revealed. On our way to the fortress, we will cross the 15th-century Stone Bridge. The fort keeps the memory of long-lost cultures and peoples.
After exploring it we will head back to Skopje through very beautiful and scenic roads.

Insider look at Kosovo - Incredible day trip. Guide was friendly talkative and well versed in the history and culture of Kosovo. Was able to customize the tour and lots of time for snack breaks and coffee to keep fueled throughout the day. Highly recommend.

An amazing day with Boris - We had an excellent guide, called Boris. He brought us to both cities and shared the history culture and cuisine. He was extremely patient answered all our questions. Recommended food took pictures for us. Bros us to the jewelry, stores and souvenir places that we asked for extended the trip in accordance to the amount of time we want us to stay in areas we got to enter a mosque orthodox church And had the most delicious meal

Excellent Kosovo one day tour from Skopje - OK, so this maybe isn't really a 5 but a 4.5, but the tour was excellent and I would have no hesitation booking with this company again. Our guide Boris was few minutes late for pick-up at our hotel (Skopje traffic can be a mess) for our private tour, but he was very personable and knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. The car was a newer model and comfortable and he was a very reasonable driver. The border crossing was no problem at all and he kept our options open to stop or not stop in Pristina (many clients simply want to go straight to Prizren) and how long to spend there. After hitting the main sights (National Library, Mother Teresa Cathedral, Bill Clinton Boulevard, etc.), we stopped for a quick coffee and headed down the road to Prizren. Again, we hit the sights (Prizren is gorgeous) and were left with some time to explore on our own as well - up to the Kalaja Fortress, which is a little bit of a hike). Boris took pictures of us together and was helpful, but not intrusive. Now, my only "negatives". The tour is a little pricey and does not include food. However, it is 9-10 hours long and clearly food was going to be involved. So, what was the deal going to be? Once in Prizren, we were guided to a gift shop and restaurant (Besimi Beska). The gift shop was literally no pressure at all (if anything, the proprietor was on the timid side) and the pricing was fine and the restaurant was actually quite good and reasonably priced. Also, Boris politely decided to "visit some friends" during our meal, so we were not obligated to buy him lunch. However, what the company should do is simply build the price of the lunch into the tour, say that food is included and still come to the same restaurant. It takes away the mystery and the pressure and the outcome is the same. We ended with a car ride back to the hotel and Boris was able to arrange for a (fully licensed, regulated) cab to the airport for us two days later. In all, Boris was excellent and tour well worth it. A little tweaking and it's a true 5.

Well worth the car travel, must-do! - Definitely worth the day, Vlado was a fantastic guide and took our wishes into account. Prizren should be emphasised more, it's a much nicer city than Pristina, lively cafes and great atmosphere.

Overall disappointing - I have to leave a completely honest review of this tour given we paid 290 euro for it. I would like to point out this isn't a personal review of the man who did the tour. He was actually a nice man with good English, going through the border with him was seamless, he brought us to a lovely restaurant for some lunch with nice staff & food. On the way home bought us some mineral drinks that are local to the area close to the border which was nice to try. But as an actual tour that is being offered, if you are looking for a historical & cultural information packed guided tour, this isn't it. It is essentially a day trip to Kosovo. We were expecting a guided tour filled with information about Kosovo, about its history yugoslavia, its indepdence, life then, life now, culture etc. What you'd expect in a tour, however this did not happen. There was little to no information given. It was more a case of things being pointed out as we walked around the town with one or two basic facts given about it (if any). It says in the itinerary part of it was to go up to Prizren fortress, which we did not do nor had no free time to do either. The national museum in Pristina was closed as was mahmet Pasha hamam (which says on Google both are permanently closed, stuff like this could be checked pre tour). I also assumed the newborn monument would be included given its a declaration of their independence, it wasn't. Also just to note, have some cash with you to pay to go up the tower of the cathedral & for the Albanian league of Prizren museum (which to be honest I was walking around not knowing what I was looking at again giving there was no background info provided). I think given what we got, this tour is very overpriced. It was a nice easy way to get to Kosovo to see it, the weather was lovely & the areas are nice to walk around and see. Sadly, this isnt the tour we thought we signed up for which was disappointing as I have left Kosovo still not knowing any more about it.
