Highlights
  • Matka Canyon - We will visit the Matka Canyon, one of the most beautiful places in the environment. Here we can visit the church of “St. Andrew” and take a small boat ride to the Vrelo cave.
  • Skopje Fortress Kale - The fortress is thought to have been built during the rule of emperor Justinian I. Researchers discovered woodwind instruments and clay ornaments dating as far back as 3000 B.C. The Skopje Kale (Fortress) is one of the city’s landmarks.
  • Old Bazaar, Skopje - We will explore the old part of Skopje with a possibility to have lunch or a coffee break, or simply wander the local streets and shops on your own.
  • Monument “Warrior on a horse” - The greatest monument of the warrior in the world
  • Memorial House of Mother Teresa - The memorial house is made in her honor. Mother Teresa was born in Skopje in 1910 and is probably the most famous Skopje-born citizen.
  • Museum of Macedonian Struggle - The exhibit covers the period from the beginning of the resistance movement against Ottoman rule until the declaration of independence from Yugoslavia on 8 September 1991. The Museum does not work on Mondays.

Excursion to Matka Canyon and Skopje from Pristina - The whole excursion was a disaster. I have been in 84 countries and I have never seen a worse guide. He was not prepared at all, he was 20 minutes late, his GSM was not charged for the whole excursion (he had to ask us to use our wifi for the GPS), he spent about 3 hours to find the first sight Matka Canyon because he drove first to a totally different direction for one hour and then back (he kept on asking people passing by the road) and even then he had no idea where the place was. He asked us to pay for his ticket even though the excursion was super expensive etc. Only in Skopje he tried to catch up, however we were too late for entering to the fortress (one of the sights in our program) because of his delays. In summary, better to avoid Experience Balkan travel agency and their miserable guides!
