A cooking class but so much more - We had a wonderful evening with Sithara and Upali in their home. They tailored the menus to our own tastes and interests. The whole experience felt very intimate and personal. We cooked ten authentic Sri Lankan dishes which all had wonderful flavours. We got to make string hoppers and coconut roti on top of all of the cooked dishes. In addition to the cooking we also swapped stories about our different cultures and learned a lot about Sri Lanka. Overall this was a great experience and we would thoroughly recommend it over a large group class.

Great Experience With Wonderful, Caring Hosts - Great experience in Sri Lanka! When traveling, we usually sign up for cooking classes, and this one was the best ever. The hosts were amazing and were not bothered at all when my husband became ill and could not attend the class. During the class, my daughter also became sick, and Upali and Sithara were so attentive and caring. They offered her a place to lie down and prepared a special herbal drink for her. She said it was like having kind, loving family members care for her. This change in the cooking class routine did not faze our wonderful hosts at all, and they continued to teach me how to make twelve dishes. I really appreciated that they taught me the process of making string hoppers. I learned how Sithara blends her own spices and enjoyed cooking several dishes in their clay pots. I especially enjoyed eating the delicious food that we prepared; they were all so tasty that I could not pick a favorite. Sithara and Upali obviously take delight in introducing Sri Lankan cuisine and cooking methods, along with cultural insights. Our communication continued later when Sithara sent copies of the recipes and information about buying spices. They also took the time to inquire about the well-being of my daughter and husband. They epitomize the caring spirit of the Sri Lankan people. It was especially helpful that Upali drove several miles to pick us up for the class and then delivered us back to our hotel, all free of charge. We were greeted warmly into their lovely home, and enjoyed learning about their lives. I was especially impressed with how they worked so smoothly as a team during the cooking process. My only regret is that my husband and daughter were not feeling well enough to participate in this rewarding experience. Thank You, Sithara and Upali !

Authentic cooking experience with amazing local couple. 100% recommended ! - Upali and Sitara are a lovely and very kind couple that helped us to immerse into local cuisine and customs. Most of their vegetables come from their own family garden. 100% Organic and no pesticides. We learned not only to cook Sri Lankan style, but also had the great luck to get to know them on a personal level. Despite the fact that my wife and I live in very different place on the planet, we found so many point in common with Upali and Sitara. Highly recommended!

The best cooking experience ever!! - An unforgettable experience. do not miss the opportunity to do a real Cooking class. The kitchen is well equipped and even has some traditional cooking tools (such as the beautiful wood-fired clay hob). The hosts speak perfect English and made us feel like long-time friends. They taught us 10 different dishes in just 2.5 hours including the best shrimp curry ever tasted, a delicious traditional soup and spectacular spiced potatoes. Obviously without forgetting the warm welcome of the Hosts, who offered us a delicious and healthy traditional homemade drink based on coriander seeds and ginger. Also note the fact that in addition to the recipes already carried out together they sent us a lot of other delicious dishes that we will definitely make at home. The desire to cook of the hosts and their ability to transmit not only recipes but entire cultures is impressive and that is why we recommend this Cooking class to everyone, do not miss it!

Amazing cooking class - I went to this cooking workshop with my boyfriend, it was a surprise for his birthday. For this they had beautiful milk rice cake decorations and a dessert! they had invited the brother and sister to celebrate the birthday. the cooking class itself was a lot of fun, we made 11 different dishes! This mainly in the traditional way, and it was very tasty. In addition to the cooking, the atmosphere was also really great, they are very nice people who generously welcome you into their home. After cooking we ate together and talked about Sri Lankan culture and learned a lot about Buddhism. I would definitely recommend this cooking class, we had a great time!

Cooking course - The cooking course with Sithara and Upali was one of our highlights in Sri Lanka. We had much fun and a wonderful and tasty dinner. Step by step and so kindly both explained us the way to prepare the meals. In addition Upali catched us from the hotel in Ella and brought us back. We also liked the way Sithara and Upali think about life and what is important for them. We recommend this course and would do it again in every Case! Thanks a lot to the two of you and enjoy your candle Light Dinner, whenever it will take place;) Nelli and Verena

Amazing experience! 🧡 - We informed ourselves that taking a cooking class on Sri Lanka is very enriching for your kitchen skills. Especially in Ella the classes were supposed to be amazing. And how true. Sithara is an awesome and extremely kind host. Together with her ewually great husband she prepares ingredients for a meal and together we cooked it. Without spoiling the experience I would say this is a must visit and experiencing when in Ella. Also they are very skilled in English and knowlegable about the Sri Lankian culture which makes for great conversation. 10/10 would visit here again ! Love from Abe en Manou from the Netherlands 🧡
