Highlights
  • Mumbai - Begin your day with a complimentary morning pickup from your selected location, then unwind in your private air-conditioned vehicle during the 1-hour drive to Pagoda. The Pagoda is a Meditation Hall situated near Gorai, in the northwest of Mumbai, India. It was inaugurated by Pratibha Patil, the then President of India, on 8 February 2009. Constructed on donated land on a peninsula between Gorai creek and the Arabian Sea, the pagoda stands as a monument of peace and harmony. The Global Pagoda was built in gratitude to Sayagyi U Ba Khin (1899 - 1971), a Vipassana teacher and the first Accountant-General of Independent Burma, who played a crucial role in bringing Vipassana back to India, its country of origin. The center of the Global Vipassana Pagoda features the world’s largest stone dome built without any supporting pillars. After the Global Vipassana Pagoda tour, the Kanheri Buddhist Caves tour begins. Relax again in your private air-conditioned vehicle for the 1-hour drive to Sanjay Gandhi National Park, where the Kanheri Caves are located. These 109 basalt rock caves were carved between the 1st century BC and the 9th century AD, serving as a center for Buddhist monks for over 1,500 years.
