Baliati Zamindari, Manikgong

Baliati Palace - Journey: Pick up from the hotel and head towards the Palace. It takes about 2 hours to reach.
Attraction: Gobinda Ram Shaha, a salt merchant, was the founder of the zamindari at Baliati. He inherited the business from his parents and expanded it, establishing the zamindari. The site features seven palaces, covering approximately 5.88 acres (23,800 m2) of land, surrounded by a moat and a perimeter wall. The premises contain around 200 rooms, and there is a pond at the back of the Palace. In the late 18th century, Zamindar Harendra Kumar Roy Chowdhury sold parts of the Narayanganj Zamindari to Sreemoti Alladi BiBi, the owner of Talluk, and her husband, Zamindar Rahim Bakhsh Haji. Since 1987, the palaces have been managed by the Bangladesh Archaeological Department. It is said that after the partition in 1947, all the ancestors moved to India.

Mohera Jomidar Bari - Travel: It takes about 1 hour to reach here.
The zamindar house was established in Mirzapur, Tangail, in 1890 by Kali Charan Saha. Kali Charan Saha and his brother Anand Saha came to Mohera village from Calcutta. Besides their land ownership, they were involved in jute and salt trading. They owned vast land properties across different parts of Bangladesh. During the partition and war, most of them moved to India, with only a few remaining in Tangail. Being wealthy, it is said they built these buildings before establishing their Zamindari. During the Bangladesh Liberation War, the Pakistan Army attacked the Mohera zamindar’s house, killing five villagers, including the zamindar’s wife (1971). Later, the zamindar family fled the country by boat on the river Lohajang. The Mukti Bahini camp was set up here.

Jamuna Multi-Purpose Bridge - On our way to Bagura, we will pass the Bangabandhu Bridge. We will enjoy the beautiful Jamuna River and the surrounding nature, with a short break in the open air. The bridge, also known as the Jamuna Multi-purpose Bridge, opened in Bangladesh in June 1998. It connects Bhuapur on the east bank of the Jamuna River to Sirajganj on the west bank. When constructed in 1998, it was the 11th longest bridge in the world and is currently the 6th longest bridge in South Asia. The Jamuna River, which it spans, is one of the three major rivers of Bangladesh and the fifth largest in the world by discharge volume.

Mahasthangarh, Bagura

Mahasthangarh - Attraction: Mahasthan means a place of great sanctity, and garh means fort. Mahasthan was first mentioned in a 13th-century Sanskrit text titled Vallalcharita. It is also referenced in an anonymous text, Karatoya Mahatmya, from the 12th–13th century. The same text mentions two other names for the same place – Pundrakshetra, land of the Pundras, and Pundranagara, city of the Pundras. In 1685, an administrative decree referred to the place as Mastangarh, a blend of Sanskrit and Persian meaning fortified place of an auspicious personage. Subsequent discoveries confirmed the earlier name was Pundranagara or Paundravardhanapura, now known as Mahasthangarh. Francis Buchanan Hamilton was the first to locate and visit Mahasthangarh in 1808, followed by C.J. O’Donnell, E.V. Westmacott, and Beveridge. Alexander was the first to identify the place, visiting the site in 1879.
