Not only is there an excellent probability of spotting a Sri Lankan leopard, but the likelihood of sighting elephants is also considerably high. We visited Yala National Park during a minor drought, causing the elephants to venture deeper into the park, near the perennial lakes, rather than residing near the primary roads. Despite this, we were still fortunate enough to spot a single male elephant feasting amidst the trees. If your visit to Yala doesn’t coincide with a drought, you are certain to witness groups of elephants visible in all their glory, wandering around the park.
