Highlights
  • Royal Palace of Caserta - The Park of the Royal Palace of Caserta, designed by the great architect Luigi Vanvitelli, is not only a scenic green expanse with many water features, but also a place of semi-hidden vistas, stories and myths to be discovered.

We will cross the majestic entrance of the palace to find ourselves in a magnificent royal park: 3 km long, oriented south-north, on 120 hectares. We will walk along the avenues along which there is a spectacular straight waterway, but interrupted by a series of waterfalls, lawns, large pools and suggestive fountains such as that of Diana and Actaeon.

We will go into the wonderful English garden, the first example of an informal Italian garden. A green paradise populated by rare tree species imported from all over the world and enriched with statues, temples, spectacular buildings and even the ruins of ancient Pompeii.

Additional Information

The Royal Palace of Caserta’s park is a feast for the eyes, filled with numerous fountains, impressive waterfalls, and stunning neoclassical structures. Notable among its many attractions is the English Garden, a sophisticated fusion of nature and artistry, housing rare flora from across the globe. This sanctuary witnessed secret Masonic initiation rites in its time, and served as Queen Maria Carolina of Austria’s personal haven for whimsical pleasures. The queen poured her own wealth into turning the garden into a spectacle even greater than the Petit Trianon of Versailles, a masterpiece commissioned by her sister, Marie Antoinette.

Beautiful park, great experience - Very nice walk, magnificent park, well maintained. Visited on a rainy day but memorable nonetheless. Very beautiful fountains, bodies of water and ponds with beautiful carp over 3 km. English garden (at the end on the right) for the brave Very pleasant. The only downside is the golf cart vehicles that transport lazy people who don't know how to take two steps and hinder real walkers with their vision and noise. Magnificent views from the castle. Can take a good 1/2 day if you want to take advantage of it. Full price: €9. This regenerates the smell of diesel, the noise and the hustle and bustle of Neapolitan cities! Probably in case of crowds (which was far from being the case during our visit, the day after a free and above all gray and humid day) may be less pleasant...
